Can E-cigarettes Help Smokers Quit?

Supporters of e-cigarettes generally believe that nicotine sprays can help smokers quit. A recent scientific literature review has added credibility to this claim. The review focused on two randomized controlled trials comparing members from 11 cohorts motivated to quit smoking, drawing conclusions based on survey data. Behavioral scientists from the Wolfson Institute of Preventive Medicine in London stated: Overall, the data suggests that e-cigarettes can help smokers quit and reduce cigarette consumption. Of course, the safest approach is to quit smoking without e-cigarettes. However, for those already addicted to nicotine, e-cigarettes may be the lesser of two evils. Researchers also pointed out that further studies are needed, especially to compare safety and efficacy with other methods, and they require more data to strengthen the evidence.
