Looking back, I’ve muddled through nearly five years in this industry. I’ve never really considered myself successful, but thanks to the support and care of some longtime customers, I’ve managed to keep going. As the e-cigarette industry continues to prosper, even today, five years later, I still run into new customers asking very basic questions. So recently, Lao Liu will use some not-so-professional knowledge to tackle, one by one, the questions that beginners often encounter. (I won’t dare call it professional, or I’ll get roasted.) I’m leaving these in the public account simply to make them easy for everyone to look up later. First, I’ll explain some basic e-cigarette knowledge in simple terms. What is an e-cigarette?

The first generation of e-cigarettes was invented and manufactured in China, and 90% of the world’s e-cigarettes and related products come from Shenzhen, China. We really have to admire the capability of Chinese manufacturers. Broadly speaking, an e-cigarette is a device that can replace traditional cigarettes. Its working principle is also very easy to understand: an e-cigarette converts electrical energy into heat, and that heat heats and vaporizes e-liquid, producing vapor. Pay special attention to the word “vapor.”

As times have changed, the appearance of e-cigarettes has also evolved from the original simple stick shape into all kinds of designs seen today.

What parts make up a complete e-cigarette setup?

The most basic parts must include the main device body, the power supply section (battery), and the heating section (atomizer).

Types of main devices.

This is actually not easy to define. Box mods and pen-style devices? That still doesn’t seem very precise, though maybe they can be distinguished that way by appearance. Functionally, they can be divided into mechanical devices, semi-mechanical devices, constant-voltage devices, and variable-voltage devices. Yes, that should be about right.

Types of atomizers.

Based on appearance and structure, they can be divided into RDA rebuildable dripping atomizers, RTA DIY tank atomizers, RDTA DIY dripper-tank hybrid atomizers, and TANK finished-coil atomizers.

Operating characteristics.

The reason e-cigarettes are considered less harmful to the human body than traditional cigarettes is that no open flame is involved in the process of producing vapor. At the same time, the vapor produced is considered water vapor.

During operation, the battery’s electrical power heats the coil inside the atomizer, causing the coil temperature to rise rapidly. That temperature acts directly on the e-liquid. Once heated, the e-liquid begins to evaporate and atomize, producing the visible vapor we see. The smoking cessation effect of e-cigarettes.

According to statistics, e-cigarettes are the known smoking cessation substitute product with the highest quit rate in the world. BUT their success rate for quitting is only 37.4%. So e-cigarettes may be the most effective product for quitting smoking, but they still cannot guarantee that you will quit 100%. Lao Liu believes that using e-cigarettes to replace cigarettes and quitting smoking really comes down to willpower. If your chance of quitting successfully is 50% when you are determined to quit, then using e-cigarettes during that process can greatly increase your chances. So we need to view the smoking cessation and cigarette replacement effects of e-cigarettes objectively. Just because one person fails does not mean the product itself is a failure.
