The harm of e-cigarettes depends on whether the ingredients in the e-liquid are harmful to the body. Generally, the common benefits of e-cigarettes are that they do not produce tar and carbon monoxide, significantly reducing harm to smokers; and they do not generate the dangers of secondhand smoke.

E-cigarettes work by electrically heating the e-liquid, atomizing it into an aerosol containing propylene glycol, glycerin, nicotine, and special flavorings for inhalation by smokers.     1. Flavorings     Currently, e-liquid formulations typically mimic various fruit flavors (lemon, banana, pineapple, etc.), special flavors (cola, Red Bull, black tea, etc.), and tobacco flavors (555, Marlboro, Long Life, etc.). These e-liquids are generally composed mainly of glycerin and artificially synthesized flavorings. Inhalation is accompanied by a strong taste of flavorings and solvents. Generally, these flavorings can be considered safe and are commonly used in many everyday foods.     2. Propylene glycol, glycerin, and other organic solvents are non-toxic but should not be ingested; large amounts can be harmful to the body. The caps of e-liquids are usually child-resistant to prevent accidental ingestion by children.     3. Some e-liquids contain nicotine (tobacco extract)     Nicotine can be addictive and lead to dependence; repeated use can increase heart rate, raise blood pressure, and decrease appetite. Consumers can choose nicotine-free or low-nicotine e-liquids.     4. The harm of secondhand smoke from traditional cigarettes refers to the harmful components in cigarette smoke: carbon monoxide, nicotine and other alkaloids, nitriles, phenols, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, heterocyclic compounds, heavy metals, etc. Aside from nicotine, the "smoke" produced by e-liquids from reputable manufacturers does not contain these harmful components.  The harm of e-cigarettes to the body I am the most qualified to talk about e-cigarettes. As mentioned earlier, e-cigarettes contain nicotine, which is true, but the intake of trace amounts of nicotine poses no problem. Nightshade vegetables also contain nicotine, so should we stop eating eggplants and tomatoes? Trace amounts of nicotine can be quickly metabolized through drinking water and urination. Those so-called experts who keep fixating on nicotine are truly ignorant; the real harm to the human body from traditional cigarettes comes not from nicotine but from carbon monoxide and tar, which produce over a hundred carcinogenic substances through combustion. E-cigarettes do not contain carbon monoxide or tar. I quit smoking eight months ago, and during these eight months, I only used e-cigarettes. The changes in my body are that my lung capacity has returned to normal, I no longer cough, and I have no phlegm; my health is excellent.     E-cigarettes themselves are not harmful; the issue is that there are currently no standardized industry regulations in the country, and the market is opaque, leading to significant exploitation in this industry. Additionally, the user base has little understanding of the products and cannot distinguish between good and bad. This results in businesses pursuing excessive profits while neglecting safety and health concerns. If e-cigarettes are not chosen wisely, I believe they can be harmful.     Why are e-cigarettes harmful? As mentioned earlier, there are no industry standards for e-cigarettes, and e-liquids lack quality inspection standards. Therefore, many businesses lower safety and testing standards for profit, leading to numerous reports of e-cigarette explosions and claims that vaping causes cancer, making it impossible to quit smoking with e-cigarettes.
