Recommended Battery Model Selection for E-cigarettes
The batteries used in e-cigarettes are mostly external lithium batteries, while some e-cigarette devices come with built-in lithium batteries or model aircraft batteries. The external lithium batteries mainly come in four models: 18650, 18500, 18350, and 26650.<\/p>
18650 Model
The pioneer of lithium-ion batteries (a standard lithium-ion battery model set by Sony in Japan to save costs)
The number 18 indicates a diameter of 18mm, 65 indicates a length of 65mm, and 0 indicates a cylindrical battery. The capacity generally ranges from 1200mAh to 3600mAh, and most e-cigarette devices use this type of battery, such as mechanical mods, variable voltage mods, and regulated boxes;
18500 Model
The number 18 indicates a diameter of 18mm, and the length is 50mm, with 0 indicating a cylindrical battery. This battery has a smaller capacity compared to the 18650 and is used less frequently, with only a few mechanical mods utilizing it;
18350 Model
The number 18 indicates a diameter of 18mm, and the length is 35mm, with 0 indicating a cylindrical battery. This battery has the smallest capacity but also the smallest size, making it suitable for a few mechanical mods or variable voltage mods;
26650 Model
The number 26 indicates a diameter of 26mm, and the length is 65mm, with 0 indicating a cylindrical battery. This battery is characterized by its large capacity and can be used in a few regulated boxes;
Appendix: Advantages of Lithium Batteries
1. Large capacity: The capacity of the 18650 lithium battery generally ranges from 1200mAh to 3600mAh, while the capacity of ordinary batteries is around 800mAh;
2. Long lifespan: The lifespan of the 18650 lithium battery is very long, with a cycle life exceeding 500 times under normal use, which is more than twice that of ordinary batteries;
3. High safety performance: The 18650 lithium battery has high safety performance, is non-explosive, and non-flammable; it is non-toxic and non-polluting, certified by RoHS; various safety features are integrated, with cycle counts exceeding 500; it has good high-temperature performance, achieving 100% discharge efficiency at 65 degrees Celsius. To prevent short-circuiting, the positive and negative terminals of the 18650 lithium battery are separated, minimizing the possibility of short circuits. Protection boards can be added to prevent overcharging and over-discharging, thus extending the battery's lifespan;
4. High voltage: The voltage of the 18650 lithium battery generally ranges from 3.6V, 3.8V, to 4.2V, which is much higher than the 1.2V voltage of nickel-cadmium and nickel-hydride batteries;
5. No memory effect: There is no need to fully discharge the remaining power before charging, making it convenient to use;
6. Low internal resistance: The internal resistance of polymer battery cells is lower than that of ordinary liquid cells, with domestic polymer battery cells achieving internal resistance below 35mΩ, significantly reducing self-discharge and extending standby time, reaching international standards. This type of polymer lithium battery, which supports high discharge currents, is an ideal choice for remote-controlled models and is the most promising product to replace nickel-hydride batteries;
7. Can be connected in series or parallel to form 18650 lithium battery packs;
8. Wide range of applications: Laptops, walkie-talkies, portable DVDs, instruments, audio equipment, model aircraft, toys, cameras, digital cameras, and other electronic devices can all use these batteries.
