What Makes IQOS E-cigarettes So Popular with Smokers?

I have been smoking for over a decade, and in recent years, I have realized the importance of health, which led me to consider quitting smoking. Therefore, I have been paying attention to e-cigarette products for a while.

Previously, I had used oil-filled devices, but I felt they were ineffective, so I later thought about trying the well-reviewed IQOS. I saw online that people said that IQOS stores in Japan do not sell to foreigners, only to locals and residents, and tourists need to make appointments. Fortunately, I have a friend in Japan who helped me get one, so now I will share my experience with IQOS e-cigarettes.

How to use an e-cigarette?

To be honest, IQOS e-cigarettes are not cheap, and if used improperly or if the device is accidentally damaged, it can be quite painful, so I will first introduce how to use it.

1. Open the packaging, first take out the device, charge it, and then take out the tobacco stick;

2. Be careful not to insert the sides incorrectly; the heating element goes inside, and the tobacco side should be inserted here. Be careful not to twist it, as it can easily damage the heating element;

3. Long press the middle button until you feel a vibration, indicating that the device is heating up. After a while, when the white light stays on, you can start puffing;

4. Be sure to clean it regularly to ensure the heating rod's effectiveness.

I have been using IQOS e-cigarettes for over six months and have summarized a few advantages that may be helpful for fellow smokers.

1. Tar is basically filtered out, which significantly reduces the harm to smokers and also lowers the harm to those around them.

2. There is no open flame or ash, making it easy to dispose of. When I can't find a trash can, I just put it back in the box after I'm done, so I don't need to carry an ashtray.

3. The smoke smell is very faint, allowing for use in many situations. For example, I have smoked in various places, including airports, restaurants, and even non-smoking hotels in Europe, as the smell is so faint that it can be ignored, so no one cares.

4. IQOS e-cigarettes can be taken on planes, so I can smoke right after getting off the plane, saving time on buying a lighter, haha.

5. Compared to most e-cigarettes that use e-liquid, IQOS feels more like a real cigarette.

Now, I will share my experience of using IQOS e-cigarettes for over six months.

As mentioned earlier, I had also tried vapor e-cigarettes, so my feeling is that the IQOS e-cigarette has a very obvious effect in preventing me from wanting to smoke real cigarettes. After getting used to IQOS, I did try smoking traditional cigarettes again, and as someone with over a decade of smoking experience, I found the burnt taste of real cigarettes to be unpleasant, which completely eliminated my cravings. After that, even when I encountered a dead IQOS, I did not go back to smoking traditional cigarettes, so I consider my attempt to quit smoking to be effective.

However, I initially found the experience of IQOS to be quite average, as its flavor does not compare to that of vapor e-cigarettes. However, it feels more like a real cigarette. If you are looking to quit smoking, I would still recommend IQOS e-cigarettes, as the experience is very realistic, and using it can genuinely help you break free from traditional cigarettes. If you are consciously trying to quit smoking, the frequency of your puffs will also decrease.
