Why do e-cigarettes explode? The Working Principle of E-cigarettes

E-cigarettes use electrical energy to short-circuit the resistance wire to heat and vaporize e-liquid to produce vapor. They mainly consist of three parts: the cartridge that holds the e-liquid, the evaporation device, and the battery rod, which converts the e-liquid inside the cartridge into vapor.

The internal structure of the battery rod consists of a rechargeable battery and various electronic circuits. Most e-cigarettes use lithium-ion and secondary battery power components, with the battery being the largest component of the e-cigarette.

There are two possibilities for battery explosions: one is internal short-circuiting, and the other is external short-circuiting. This can be caused by quality issues, improper operation, or external high temperatures.

Why do e-cigarettes explode? Quality Issues

Currently, e-cigarette manufacturers are mixed, and the mandatory national standards for e-cigarettes are still in the approval stage, expected to be officially released by the end of the year. In an industry with low self-discipline, no legal supervision, and no product testing, it is not ruled out that some shortsighted manufacturers, in pursuit of profit and sales, may produce products with quality issues.

Why do e-cigarettes explode? How to Prevent E-cigarette Explosions

1. Only use the original factory charger for charging.

2. Do not leave the e-cigarette charging overnight.

3. If the battery starts to heat up, please replace it.

4. Do not use the device while charging.

5. Do not modify or disassemble the product in any way.

6. If damaged, leaking, or wet, do not use the battery and dispose of it properly.

7. Choose reputable e-cigarette brands whenever possible; avoid brands you have never heard of. If an e-cigarette brand is not even willing to establish a reputation, it is likely a counterfeit product. Be aware that products you purchase must be from well-known brands; even if issues arise later, you will know how to seek redress.

8. In hot weather, do not leave e-cigarettes in enclosed spaces, such as cars or pockets.

Why do e-cigarettes explode? In fact, the chances of e-cigarettes exploding are very low; those produced by reputable manufacturers generally do not explode because they use mature 18650 and 18550 batteries, and e-cigarette designs include overload, overcharge, overheating, and short-circuit protection; explosions are unlikely to occur. Therefore, as long as you purchase e-cigarettes from reputable manufacturers and do not violate operational regulations, such incidents are very unlikely to happen.
