According to U.S. media reports, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that there are currently more than 450 suspected cases of lung illness in the United States linked to vaping, spanning 23 states. Symptoms include difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, chest pain, and vomiting. Although testing by the relevant authorities has not found a single common deadly substance in all patients, they are still urging the public not to use vaping devices temporarily until the cause of the illness is confirmed.

It is understood that these pneumonia cases began appearing in late June this year. Common factors include that the patients were mainly young people or otherwise healthy adults, but they suddenly became seriously ill and required emergency treatment. Examinations suggested that their lungs may have inhaled toxic industrial chemical substances. Investigations found that these patients had all used vaporizing devices and e-cigarettes, and the cases also involved cannabis-related ingredients, raising suspicions that the illnesses were related to using such devices to consume cannabis.

Although authorities have still not confirmed a direct relationship between severe lung disease and e-cigarettes, the safety of vaping-related products has already come under question.
