E-Cigarettes Don’t Harm the Body? Quitting Smoking Is the Right Choice

When it comes to e-cigarettes, the first word that comes to mind for many people is smoking alternative. E-cigarette ads once spread across the internet like a “virus.” The advertising effect was also significant, and many people began using e-cigarettes. So, do e-cigarettes harm our bodies?

Most e-cigarettes contain nicotine, which is the most addictive substance in tobacco. Nicotine is especially harmful to young people. The human brain continues developing until about age 25. Using nicotine products before age 25 can damage the parts of the brain responsible for memory, attention, and learning.

Even vaping with nicotine-free e-cigarettes is not harmless, because they still contain harmful ingredients, including heavy metals and even carcinogenic chemicals, which can still be deeply inhaled into the lungs and affect our bodies.

Studies show that e-cigarette advertising uses many similar themes that encourage young people to smoke. E-cigarettes are not only harming older smokers; more worryingly, they are also eroding the next generation and threatening their health.

Recently, a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) pointed out that quitting smoking can significantly reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. The study’s authors told us that even smokers who have smoked for decades will begin to see improvements in their cardiovascular system once they quit. Although full recovery still takes a long time, the sooner you put down the cigarette in your hand, the sooner health will move one step closer to you.

From this perspective, no matter how long your smoking history is, if you quit smoking starting now, you will be much healthier than if you continue smoking. Setting a good example for teenagers, quitting smoking is the right choice.
