According to news from the American Tobacco Industry Communications Network, recently, Ned Sharpless, the head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), announced that they have developed a regulatory plan for electronic cigarettes. Some of the contents of this plan include:

1. Restricting youth access to electronic nicotine delivery systems;

2. Conducting inspections of retailers and manufacturers of electronic cigarette products;

3. Enhancing the review and regulation of production qualifications for manufacturers of such products;

4. Strengthening the strict review of new tobacco products like electronic cigarettes before they are marketed, requiring detailed product data in pre-market applications;

5. Educating and preventing youth smoking through strict enforcement, while also conducting more scientific research in this area.

The official also pointed out that the FDA does not allow young people to become addicted to nicotine products.
