Is 3% nicotine salt in vape e-liquid high or low? Most vape e-liquids today use nicotine salts, and the nicotine salt content comes in different strengths. One of the most common is 3%, so many people ask whether that level is considered high or low. Here’s the answer.

Is 3% nicotine salt in vape e-liquid high or low?

3% is roughly equal to 30 mg of nicotine, while 5% is roughly equal to 50 mg of nicotine. In general, the nicotine strength of vape e-liquid usually ranges from 0–50 mg/ml, and it can also be expressed as a percentage. So a 3% nicotine salt e-liquid is considered a normal level.

Nicotine content: percentage and mg/ml

Take an e-liquid labeled “20mg” as an example: each 1 ml of e-liquid contains 20 mg of nicotine. Since the density of e-liquid is approximately 1 g/ml, 1 ml equals 1000 mg. That means nicotine makes up about: 20 mg/ml = 20 mg/1000 mg = 2%.

By the same logic, an e-liquid labeled 50 mg contains about 5% nicotine. From this, you can conclude that 10 mg/ml is approximately equal to 1%, meaning that if an e-liquid is labeled “N mg” (where N is a number), dividing by 10 gives the approximate percentage strength.

At present, the nicotine strengths commonly found on the market are generally divided into four standard levels: zero nicotine at 0 mg, low at 6 mg, medium at 12 mg, and high at 18 mg. If the nicotine concentration is too high, it may cause symptoms such as chest tightness and nausea. This is one reason nicotine salts have become so popular. Of course, there are also customized vape e-liquids with strengths such as 3 mg, 9 mg, 11 mg, and 24 mg, which are specially made by e-liquid manufacturers for particular customer needs.

The nicotine content in vape e-liquid is optional. The e-liquid used in vaping devices generally comes in four different strengths: high, medium, low, and nicotine-free. These four levels indicate how much nicotine the e-liquid contains.

So, is 3% nicotine salt high or low? Based on the above, 3% is a very normal level and one that many people choose. In other words, it’s a fairly standard strength. However, if it feels uncomfortable when you vape, you can choose an e-liquid with a lower nicotine content.
