October 18 news: E-cigarette giant Juul announced on Thursday that, ahead of the Trump administration’s flavored e-cigarette sales ban policy, the company will immediately suspend sales of all of its most popular fruit-flavored vaping products. The Trump administration’s policy is expected to remove all flavored e-cigarettes from the market.

Under pressure from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Juul stopped selling its flavored vaping products in retail stores last year. Customers could only buy flavored vaping products—including crème, mango, fruit, and cucumber flavors—through Juul’s official age-restricted website.

Juul said the new policy takes effect immediately, and the company will stop selling mint-flavored vaping products, leaving only tobacco-flavored products available.

In a statement, Juul spokesman Austin Finan said: “As we await the FDA’s final guidance, we will continue to review our practices. We will not lobby the administration to weaken these restrictions; instead, we will fully support and comply with them.”

Amid the rise in youth e-cigarette use and the outbreak of a deadly lung illness linked to vaping, the Trump administration said last month that it was prepared to pull all flavored e-cigarettes from the market until the FDA reviews them and authorizes them to return to shelves. Government officials said at the time that the plan would be announced within weeks, but it has not yet been released.
