Jolin Tsai Says E-Cigarettes Can't Help You Quit Smoking

Jolin Tsai has always been known in the entertainment industry for being outspoken. She is also famous on social media for speaking her mind and showing a strong sense of social responsibility. Recently, however, one of her posts on social media landed her in trouble.

According to Taiwanese media reports on October 26, Jolin Tsai became a “smoke-free ambassador” again after 11 years, promoting the message: “I reject smoking, and I’m proud! Get out, all tobacco products!” She also called attention to the idea that “e-cigarettes are harmful to the body,” which left many e-cigarette sellers dissatisfied.
 
On the day of the event, some e-cigarette merchants allegedly slipped in under the guise of media personnel and waited outside the venue, planning to cause a disturbance once Jolin Tsai appeared. Fortunately, staff discovered them in time and removed them promptly, preventing any incident at the scene. Due to safety concerns, additional personnel were ultimately assigned to protect Jolin Tsai.
 
According to reports, the merchants’ actions were also related to a recent post by Jolin Tsai on social media. She had written: “E-cigarettes cannot be used to quit smoking!!!” Because of her considerable influence, sales of e-cigarettes reportedly fell sharply, which is said to have triggered the disturbance by the merchants.

In response, Jolin Tsai’s manager said they had indeed heard about the matter, but did not know the details.
