News on the evening of September 27: In response to a Caixin report published today stating that e-cigarette standards are about to be introduced and that 30 production licenses are expected to be issued, the E-Cigarette Industry Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce released a statement this evening saying that it has not yet received any notice from relevant national authorities regarding the matter mentioned above.
Caixin reported today that the State Tobacco Monopoly Administration has already begun implementing a licensing system for e-cigarette manufacturers, with an estimated 30 production licenses to be issued. Five companies have reportedly already obtained licenses, but no manufacturer has disclosed this publicly so far.
In response to the questions and inquiries from e-cigarette companies, the E-Cigarette Industry Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce issued the following explanation this evening. Full statement below:

Today, our association received numerous inquiries from members regarding news about the introduction of e-cigarette standards and the issuance of e-cigarette production licenses. At present, our association has not received any notice from relevant national authorities regarding the above matters. We hereby call on all members not to believe or spread rumors, but to stay focused on development and dedicate themselves to building solid businesses. If there is any relevant information, our association will notify everyone promptly. This is hereby explained.
