Competition pattern of new tobacco market in China
——Shenzhen is the home base of my country's e-cigarette market, but the company is small in scale
my country's new tobacco product market is currently mainly composed of e-cigarettes, mouth-cigarettes and other tobacco products. Among them, closed vapor e-cigarettes and open vapor e-cigarettes are the main types, and mouth-cigarettes and other new tobacco products account for a small proportion. Since the sales of domestic heated and non-combustible products are prohibited, the competition in my country's new tobacco market is dominated by e-cigarette product manufacturers and sales companies.
At present, there are nearly 4000 e-cigarette companies in China. There are more than 500 local companies in Shenzhen alone, accounting for about 13% of the number of companies in the country. They are mostly distributed in Shajing, Fuyong, Xixiang, Gongming, Longhua and other places, but about 80% of them are companies with less than 50 employees and are very small.
Important associations and chambers of commerce in China's e-cigarette industry are located in Shenzhen. In December 2015, the Shenzhen Electronic Cigarette Association and Shenzhen Electronic Cigarette Industry Association merged into China Electronic Cigarette Association. In January 2017, the Electronic Cigarette Industry Committee of China Electronics Chamber of Commerce CECC was established in Shenzhen. In August 2017, the Shenzhen Electronic Cigarette Chamber of Commerce was officially established in Shenzhen.
——Fierce price competition forms three echelons of enterprises
The domestic e-cigarette market is in a state of complete competition. Not only is the number of companies very large, but the price competition is also very fierce. Early entrants have obvious advantages in strength. They have better visibility and early development in the industry, and can obtain more high-quality orders. Later entrants, including many small and medium-sized enterprises and traders, are currently unable to compete with advantageous enterprises due to their relatively low scale and strength.
Overall, a first echelon composed of early entrants such as Huizhou Geirui, Shenzhen Jieshibo, Shenzhen Smoak, and Shenzhen Heyuan Technology has been formed, a second echelon dominated by many medium-sized enterprises and large traders, and a third echelon dominated by many small enterprises and traders.
