On December 18, news was released that the 2019 International E-Cigarette Summit, hosted by the Electronic Cigarette Industry Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce, was held today. The summit mainly discussed the improvement of the e-cigarette standard system and the future development trends of the e-cigarette industry. World-renowned cardiologists and e-cigarette research experts, including the Executive Director of the American E-Cigarette Technology Association, the Chairman of the UK E-Cigarette Association, the President and Founder of the German E-Cigarette Association, and the President of the Korean E-Cigarette Association, also attended the meeting.
At the meeting, Ao Weinuo, Secretary-General of the Electronic Cigarette Industry Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce, reported on the global e-cigarette industry summary for 2019 and the work plan for 2020.
In 2019, the global market sales of vaporized e-cigarettes reached $33 billion, a year-on-year increase of 106.25%, which is 14 times the industry development since 2012.
Ao Weinuo pointed out in the work report that the market size of China's e-cigarette industry in 2019 was $7.87 billion, with export sales of $6.26 billion. In retail terminals around the world, the sales of most products will be expanded four to five times, indicating that over 90% of e-cigarette products globally originate from China. In terms of production and technology, China has a significant advantage globally, especially with over 100 supply chains in Shenzhen, making China the manufacturing center of the global industry.
According to data from the Electronic Cigarette Industry Committee of the China Electronics Chamber of Commerce, as of November 2019, there were a total of 28,642 global e-cigarette patents, an increase of 2,663 from the previous year, with China holding 25,006 patents, accounting for 87.3%. In China, there are over 51 national high-tech enterprises in the e-cigarette sector, and more than 2,000 related companies were newly registered in the business system throughout the year, directly creating over 500,000 jobs and indirectly driving employment for over 2 million people, with exports to over 132 countries.
Over the past decade since the e-cigarette industry was born, the self-pricing power, the agglomeration effect of the entire industry chain, and the high-density market distribution indicate that China's e-cigarette manufacturing industry has an absolute "dominance" and "voice" in the global market growth.
