China's Vape Exports Estimated at RMB 49.4B in 2020, to Triple by 2025
At a 2020 industry forum in Shenzhen, a report estimated China’s vape exports reached RMB 49.4 billion in 2020 and could triple by 2025.
On December 20, 2020, the 4th International Electronic Cigarette Industry Summit Forum was held in Shenzhen under the guidance of China Electronic Chamber of Commerce (CECC) and hosted by the Electronic Cigarette Industry Committee (ECIC).
At the forum, Ao Weino, Secretary General of the Electronic Cigarette Industry Committee, released the "2020 World Electronic Cigarette Industry Report", focusing on market size in 2020, export data analysis and market size forecast for the next five years.
According to the report, global e-cigarette retail sales are estimated at $36.3 billion in 2020, up 10% from global retail sales of $33 billion in 2019. e-cigarette exports from China are estimated at CNY 49.4 billion ($7.559 billion) in 2020, compared to CNY 43.8 billion in 2019, representing a 12.8% increase in China's exports. China's domestic retail sales are estimated at RMB 14.5 billion, compared to RMB 11.2 billion in 2019, an increase of 30%. (Note: The above data does not include heating non-combustible HNB)
The top six countries in the e-cigarette market, in order of the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, China, France, Russia. E-cigarette new growth areas, including Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, South America.
Despite the global outbreak of the 2020 epidemic, demand for e-cigarette products remains strong. The report mentions that thanks to China's successful epidemic prevention and control, China's e-cigarette industry has fully resumed production and continues to play a dominant role in global manufacturing and exporting, and China's atomized e-cigarettes and vape oils have become a new growth point.
In the atomized e-cigarette cigarette export share, disposable atomized e-cigarettes accounted for 50%, closed atomized e-cigarettes accounted for 24%, open atomized e-cigarettes accounted for 26%.
In terms of cigarette oil, Chinese cigarette oil companies have achieved all-round improvement in technology, equipment, production standards, raw materials, quality and taste, and gained the recognition of global users, establishing a good reputation for Made in China. China's cigarette oil exports realized significant growth year-on-year.
The market size for the next five years is also forecasted in the report, including global retail sales, exports and domestic sales.
