Yiswang MATE Vape Kit Review

I received the new product from Yiswang—MATE—quite some time ago. It was only recently that I settled down to properly test it. I received the Indigo version, along with two different flavors of test pods included in the kit. Thanks to the Yiswang team for their trust and support.

Shenzhen Yiswang Technology Co., Ltd. was founded in early 2018, focusing on the research and development of vaporization technology and the construction of a health ecosystem based on vaporization technology, such as transforming functional products like energy sticks and sleep aids into vaporized, inhalable forms.

Yiswang uses electronic cigarettes as an entry point to layout the vaporization health ecosystem, launching two types of electronic cigarette products: replaceable pod systems and disposable shareable small cigarettes. The replaceable pod systems adopt a product combination strategy, offering different vapor products for various user groups. They have launched the Yiswang Pro series, Yiswang MATE light lung inhale series, and Yiswang MAX disposable light lung inhale small cigarettes, with nearly 20 flavors of pods available.

Yiswang has agents across South China, North China, Southwest China, and Southeast Asia, and has established strategic partnerships with platforms like Suning, Xiaodian, Wangyu Internet Cafe, and Mai Jiao Shou to jointly build the Yiswang vaporization ecosystem.

Yiswang has completed its angel round of financing, with investors including well-known domestic angel investment institutions Meihua Venture Capital, the world-renowned tobacco tycoon’s designated factory Ju Wei Group, and the well-known American electronic cigarette brand Suorin.

Packaging
 
The MATE packaging is quite distinctive, featuring a strong ethnic style—Xianglong Tuan—and combining popular gradient colors, blending culture and fashion harmoniously. This time, MATE is launched in four colors, each corresponding to a different Chinese country and dynasty. I received the Indigo color, representing the Wei state.
 

The MATE packaging box is compact and exquisite, featuring a magnetic cover design that not only makes it easy for users to take out but also adds a sense of ceremony.
 
The interior of the packaging is quite simple, with the upper layer containing the MATE pod and the lower layer being the accessory box. The accessory box includes a charging cable, a manual, and two pods.
 
Yiswang’s pods come in two individually sealed capsules, each with two silicone plugs on the top and bottom, and the flavor and nicotine content printed on one side.

Usage Experience

The MATE pod is made of aviation aluminum, making it extremely lightweight and comfortable to hold. The one I received features a gradient color of green on top and blue on the bottom, symbolizing "the green comes from blue and surpasses blue."
 
The bottom of the pod features a hollow Yiswang logo, which is quite prominent. The MATE’s interactive functions are conveyed through the shining of this logo, which will be detailed later.

The pod body is slim, with an air intake hole on each side, and the bottom features a Micro-USB charging port. Friends from Yiswang informed me that they plan to replace it with a Type-C port in the next update.
 
The pods are individually packaged with two silicone plugs on the top and bottom. I did not experience any leaking during use.
 

The pods are 2ml, and in my personal testing, one pod can be used for about 500 puffs, which is quite practical. The front of the pod is printed with flavor and nicotine content.
 
The connection between the pod and the device is magnetic, allowing for blind insertion in either direction, making it convenient for users.
 
The MATE kit comes with two pods, one with Dewy Mint and the other with Rich Tobacco, both containing 3.5% nicotine. In addition to these two flavors, MATE also offers five other flavors: Honey Grapefruit Tea, Happy Grape Ice, Romantic Ice Watermelon, Green Apple Paradise, and Righteous Peach Ice. Unfortunately, I only have these two flavors from the kit, so I can only share my impressions of them.
 
Rich Tobacco: The tobacco flavor is quite authentic, with a strong throat hit. Since there are no cooling agents, the first puff can be quite intense, and if inhaled too deeply, it can be harsh. Additionally, this e-liquid flavor seems to blend coffee's richness with tobacco, creating a harmonious composite flavor.

Dewy Mint: Although it’s mint, it’s not overly cooling, making it especially suitable for those who crave coolness in winter but fear the cold. The 3.5% nicotine content also provides a strong throat hit. Moreover, this e-liquid has a complex and rich flavor base, giving you a tobacco-like sensation, but upon closer inspection, it’s not purely tobacco. It’s like a mature man, possessing a certain depth.

Summary

MATE is a new generation entry-level device launched by Yiswang. Overall, MATE lives up to its name and is a model that fits its positioning. Notably, the MATE pods use cotton cores, which provide a softer and richer vaporization experience. For seasoned electronic cigarette users, cotton cores are undoubtedly their faith and soul. The unique silky sensation during inhalation, accompanied by a warm feeling in the throat, always leaves a lasting impression.

Furthermore, MATE emphasizes the light lung inhale method, which I was curious to try. In light lung inhale mode, the MATE experience falls between large clouds and small clouds. This is likely due to the higher nicotine concentration in MATE pods compared to similar small cigarette products on the market, making the light lung inhale quite pleasurable and distinct in terms of satisfying cravings. It’s important to note that deep lung inhales are generally not recommended, as most people may not enjoy that.

As I mentioned in my summary of the four new changes in the electronic cigarette industry—my exhibition summary—there is a trend of merging large clouds and small clouds. Previously, I had used new products that merged in appearance, while Yiswang MATE has clearly made new attempts in usage, allowing users to enjoy the advantages of both types of products in actual sensory experiences.
