According to the Korea Times, KT&G has established an office in Taiwan, which is part of the company's ambitious plan to become the fourth largest tobacco manufacturer in the world by 2025.

Since 2002, Taiwan has been one of KT&G's major markets, when the company began exporting to Taiwan and selling upgraded products under premium brands.

In 2020, KT&G sold over 771 million cigarettes in Taiwan, an increase of more than 2200% compared to 2002.

Kim Na-mi, head of KT&G Taiwan, stated, "We will establish a team to strengthen marketing and sales activities while focusing on developing new brands that meet consumer needs."

Kim noted that the market potential in Taiwan is enormous. She pointed out that due to an effective response to Covid-19, consumer spending in Taiwan is rapidly recovering, and Taiwan's GDP growth will exceed previous forecasts.
