According to previous research evidence, public health experts have long pointed out that in response to such bans, most vapers tend to switch back to smoking. In fact, multiple studies have shown that it is precisely due to such products that smoking rates have declined in most countries.<\/span><\/div>
Mike Hammoud, president of the Atlantic Convenience Store Association, stated that after a decade of declining cigarette sales in Nova Scotia, the shift from e-cigarettes back to traditional cigarettes has begun, with retailers reporting a sharp increase in cigarette sales. Consistent with these observations, a poll released by Abacus Data indicates that about 29% of the vaping population in the region may switch to cigarettes.<\/span><\/div>

“This is something we see coming out of nowhere with the increase in cigarette sales,” Hammoud said. He believes there are two main reasons behind this increase: “First is the ban on flavored vape products, and the second is the increased presence of black market tobacco due to the reduced legal options,” he reported according to an article today in Halifax.<\/span><\/div>

Hammoud added that he wants to discuss the future of flavored vaping products with government officials to determine what the ultimate goal is. “We believe the current restrictions may have gone too far, and the reduction in smoking among adults could be an unintended consequence.”<\/span><\/div>
