Juul to Suspend Sales of Fruit-Flavored E-Cigarettes in Canada

Juul Labs’ Canadian unit will stop selling fruit-flavored vaping products in Canada, marking another retreat as the company narrows flavored product offerings in multiple markets.

According to The Motley Fool, Juul Labs' subsidiary in Canada will stop selling fruit-flavored e-cigarettes in the country. The company confirmed to Reuters that this move is the latest in a series of withdrawals by Juul Labs, which has also stopped selling similar flavored products in the U.S. except for certain desserts. It has also removed these products from its website.

Juul Labs' main shareholder is the American tobacco giant Altria Group, which will continue to sell existing flavored products while stopping the supply of new flavors to retailers. It is also considering bringing back discontinued flavors to the Canadian market at some point in the future and will consult with Health Canada on this matter.

Not all flavors are included; tobacco and mint flavors will still be available.

Juul Labs has not made any formal comments regarding the removal of products, nor has Altria Group or Health Canada.

Flavored e-cigarettes have recently faced widespread criticism, with opponents claiming they are designed to attract young users to vaping. Juul Labs and its peers have firmly denied such allegations. In light of these concerns and the harmful effects of this practice, Health Canada has been considering whether to implement stricter regulations on the e-cigarette industry.

Juul Labs is a dominant player in the Canadian e-cigarette market. According to national media CBC, the company held nearly 80% of the market share as of last summer.
