Kyrgyzstan to Levy Excise Tax on E-Cigarettes and Related Products Jan 1

Kyrgyzstan’s tax authority said it will impose excise tax from Jan. 1 on heated tobacco products and containers filled with nicotine liquid for vaping devices.
On the 19th, the Kyrgyzstan National Tax Service announced that starting January 1, 2020, an excise tax will be levied on packaged containers of heated tobacco or nicotine liquid used for electronic cigarettes.<\/span>

According to Article 1 of Chapter 287 of the Kyrgyzstan Tax Code, from January 1 to December 31, 2020, an excise tax of 610 soms will be levied on every kilogram of heated tobacco products, and 1 som will be charged for every milliliter of nicotine liquid.<\/p>

By 2021, the tax on heated tobacco will increase to 700 soms per kilogram, and for nicotine liquid, it will increase to 1.25 soms per milliliter; by 2022, it will further increase to 800 soms and 1.5 soms, respectively.<\/p>

Producers and importers of the aforementioned products must report and pay the excise tax according to the provisions of the Kyrgyzstan Tax Code based on the physical goods.<\/p>

It is reported that from July 1 to December 31, 2019, no taxes were levied on the aforementioned products.<\/p>
