According to the New Zealand Herald, after President Surangel Whipps signed a law that “comprehensively bans the import, advertising, sale, and use of e-cigarettes,” the Republic of Palau has declared e-cigarettes and other e-cigarette products illegal.

Law RPPL 11-27 expands the country’s Tobacco Control Act to include e-cigarettes and will take effect 60 days after its promulgation.
Starting May 29, businesses and individuals found using e-cigarette products will be prosecuted.
Individuals found in violation may face fines of $1,000, while businesses or individuals importing, distributing, and/or selling the product may face fines of $20,000.
The initial bill was submitted to the Palauan National Congress last July.
