Sheffield City Council Urges UK Central Government to Ban Disposable Vaping Devices
Sheffield City Council has asked the UK government to ban disposable vaping devices, citing concerns that they appeal to young people and have negative effects on the environment and health.
According to a report by The Star, Sheffield City Council has submitted a request to the central government, urging it to ban disposable vaping devices on the grounds that these products are attractive to young people and have harmful effects on their living environment and health.
The request letter was sent after councilors called at a full council meeting at the end of the year for Council Leader Tom Hunt to ask Health and Social Care Secretary Victoria Atkins to support a ban on disposable vaping devices.
Councilors said they made the request in response to the rising number of young people using vaping devices, as well as the impact these products have on the environment and children’s well-being.
At a full council meeting late last year, councilors asked Council Leader Tom Hunt to write to UK Health and Social Care Secretary Victoria Atkins, calling for a ban on disposable vaping devices.
They said the move was primarily intended to address the growing use of vaping devices among young people, along with the impact of these products on the environment and children’s well-being.
