Breaking news: According to a recent report by the Wakefield Express, local Trading Standards officers and police seized 1,720 illegal cigarettes during a search of an offline retail premises in Wakefield city centre. Following the raid, the owner of the Continental Food Store (Continental Food Store) may face the loss of the store’s operating license.

 

On December 4 last year, enforcement officers visited the Westgate shop after it was found to be selling illegal or counterfeit tobacco products.

 

Details of the cigarettes and vaping devices were recorded in documents submitted to Wakefield Council. Local police said illegal cigarettes and vaping devices were found for sale in the shop and requested a review of the Continental Food Store’s license. According to the investigation, a total of 86 packs of illegal cigarettes were seized, including Marlboro, L&M Blue, Richmond Blue, and NZ Gold, and vaping products sold by the shop were also found to exceed the legal nicotine limit.

 

Licensing enforcement officer Paul Dean also requested a review of the license. He said the results of the evening operation, carried out jointly with West Yorkshire Police, Trading Standards, and licensing enforcement officers, clearly indicated that the shop was suspected of selling smuggled goods.”
