China’s Exports of Vaping Products to Japan in September Reach US$17.29 Million, Up About 26% MoM
In September, China's exports of e-cigarettes to Japan reached approximately 17.29 million USD, a month-on-month increase of 25.80% and a year-on-year decrease of 71.00%.
According to updated trade data from the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, the statistics for September 2023 regarding e-cigarette exports to Japan are as follows:

The export value was approximately 17.29 million USD, with a month-on-month increase of 25.80% and a year-on-year decrease of 71.00%.

The export volume was approximately 116 tons, with a month-on-month increase of 13.90% and a year-on-year decrease of 67.15%.

The export unit price was 148.46 USD/kg, with a month-on-month increase of 10.45% and a year-on-year decrease of 11.72%; the average price for "e-cigarettes and similar personal electronic vaporizing devices" was 20.22 USD/unit.

Among them, "e-cigarettes and similar personal electronic vaporizing devices" accounted for 99.35% of the export categories, while "products that do not contain tobacco or reconstituted tobacco and are non-combustible nicotine products" accounted for 0.65%.

According to data forecasts from P&S Market Research, Japan's e-cigarette market is expected to reach 4.5 billion USD by 2024, with a compound annual growth rate of 22.6% from 2019 to 2024; the growing awareness of the harmful effects of traditional smoking has led to an increase in the usage rate of e-cigarettes (including heated tobacco products); historically, the middle-aged group (35-44 years old) is considered the main consumer group for such e-cigarettes; major players in the Japanese e-cigarette market include Philip Morris International, British American Tobacco, Altria Group, Japan Tobacco, and Imperial Brands.
