The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is currently seeking nominations for a non-voting representative to represent the interests of the tobacco manufacturing industry on the Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee (TPSAC), with a deadline of October 11, 2023.

According to Tobacco Reporter, individuals can self-nominate or be nominated by any interested person or organization. Additionally, the CTP invites interested industry organizations to participate in the selection process for the TPSAC non-voting representative.

Nomination materials for candidates wishing to become TPSAC representatives and letters from industry organizations interested in participating in the selection process should be submitted to the CTP by October 11, 2023. For more detailed information regarding the nomination and selection process, please refer to the Federal Register notice.

The TPSAC's responsibilities include providing advice to the CTP regarding the regulation of tobacco products. The committee reviews and evaluates safety, addiction, and health issues related to tobacco products and provides appropriate advice, information, and recommendations to the FDA commissioner.
