RELX to Launch WAKA in the Philippines in 2024, Offering Up to 10,000 Puffs

RELX Philippines plans to launch the disposable vaping product brand WAKA in 2024 to expand its market presence.

According to a report on September 12 by bworldonline, RELX Philippines intends to introduce the disposable vaping brand WAKA in 2024. The product is expected to be priced at around 550 Philippine pesos (approximately 64 RMB) and will provide consumers with up to 10,000 puffs. 

Patrick C. Drilon, the head of international external affairs at RELX Philippines, stated at the new product line launch conference:

“We recognized the presence of disposable vaping products, so we made product adjustments, and we are trying to launch our own disposable product in the Philippines.” 

Drilon mentioned that the company plans to launch the vaping product line named WAKA next year after meeting the requirements of the Philippine Bureau of Internal Revenue and the Department of Trade and Industry.

We plan to launch a product named WAKA, priced at around 550 pesos, which can be used for up to 10,000 puffs. We expect disposable vapes to effectively encourage more smokers to switch to vaping,”

On September 8, RELX launched its second-generation Infinity series products in the Philippines. 

When asked if the company expects the newly launched product line to contribute to its revenue growth, Drilon stated it would help, but noted that the plan is designed for its partners.

Drilon expressed optimism that the company would achieve significant revenue growth this year. 

He said: 

“Due to the flavor ban announcement until the vaping law takes effect, we were unable to sell products in large quantities because we could only sell regular tobacco and menthol-flavored vapes.”
