Altria seeks US ban on import and sale of Juul e-cigarette products

NJOY has filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission against rival JUUL Labs, seeking a ban on the import and sale of Juul products.
According to Reuters, Marlboro maker Altria said recently that its e-cigarette subsidiary NJOY has filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission against rival Juul Labs, seeking to block the import and sale of Juul products.
The move escalates the dispute between the two vaping manufacturers, after Juul filed a similar patent infringement complaint against NJOY with the ITC in June this year.
Altria previously held a 35% stake in Juul and acquired that stake in 2018 for $12.8 billion. Earlier this year, Altria exited that deal just before announcing its acquisition of NJOY for about $2.75 billion.
