Ukraine Requires Age Verification on Vaping Sales Websites

According to news on August 22, the Ukrainian government recently stated on its official website that it has required the websites of manufacturers and importers of vaping devices and heated tobacco systems to verify the age of visitors. These websites include information related to the sale, servicing, and accessories of tobacco and nicotine products.

Under Ukrainian government regulations, websites selling tobacco systems and vaping devices must develop identity verification systems and require visitors to provide documents that can prove their age. Officials have adopted the relevant resolution to implement the requirements of laws and regulations on protecting the public from the harmful effects of tobacco (Law No. 1978). At the same time, they noted that introducing EU best practices will help protect children and adolescents from the harmful effects of tobacco products, limit their access to such products, and prevent minors from using them.
