8 Export Batches Completed: Dongguan Vaping Exports Gain a New Channel
At the Dongguan–Hong Kong International Airport Center ("Airport Center"), batches of e-cigarettes complete all pre-boarding procedures in a "one-stop" process, including customs clearance, security screening, and palletizing. They are then shipped by the Greater Bay Area Express sea route to the cargo terminal at Hong Kong Airport, where they are loaded directly onto aircraft bound for destinations worldwide.
Dongguan Port International Air Cargo (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the port group and the first registered operator under Hong Kong Customs' e-cigarette transshipment supervision program, has so far completed 8 batches of e-cigarette air export business through the Airport Center, with a total cargo value exceeding RMB 20 million.

It is understood that Dongguan has a solid industrial foundation for e-cigarettes. At present, Dongguan has a total of 109 licensed e-cigarette enterprises, with the industry's scale approaching RMB 30 billion. In June this year, Hong Kong's Legislative Council passed amendments to the Import and Export Ordinance, which took effect upon gazettal on June 30, bringing alternative smoking products transshipped via Hong Kong Airport by sea-air transport within the scope of exemption. This allows mainland e-cigarettes to be exported to countries around the world via the Airport Center's sea-air intermodal route through Hong Kong Airport, creating new development opportunities for Dongguan's e-cigarette export business.
To ensure that the Airport Center could promptly undertake related business after the Legislative Council's approval, the port group conducted advance research on e-cigarette business, fully communicated operational details with the Hong Kong Airport Authority, Huangpu Customs, and the Dongguan Maritime Safety Administration, actively coordinated with freight forwarders and factories, and held promotional events for the e-cigarette business. On July 13, the first batch of e-cigarette cargo was transshipped through the Airport Center and exported from Hong Kong Airport to the United States, marking the official launch of the Airport Center's e-cigarette air export business.
The port group said it will continue stepping up support for the development of Dongguan's e-cigarette enterprises, striving to provide better services for Dongguan e-cigarette companies and a flexible, efficient, and cost-effective air export channel for e-cigarette products made in Dongguan.
