In early July this year, the Yongning District Tobacco Monopoly Bureau in Nanning received a tip-off alleging that someone had recently been stockpiling large quantities of vaping products in a residential community in Liangqing District, Nanning, for illegal business operations. After receiving the report, the bureau immediately organized a task force to investigate the case, fully identifying the gang members’ division of roles, activity patterns, and other details in an effort to carry out a precise crackdown.
After screening, investigation, and verification, the Yongning District Tobacco Monopoly Bureau determined that the time was ripe to close the net. On the evening of July 17, it joined forces with the Liangqing District Tobacco Monopoly Bureau and law enforcement officers from the Yongning Branch of the Nanning Public Security Bureau to carry out the operation. After inventory, officers seized a total of 19,602 pods, 5,763 disposable e-cigarettes, and 86 vaporizer kits from the reported residence, with a total case value exceeding RMB 1.1 million. Three suspects were apprehended at the scene.
At present, because the case has met the threshold for criminal prosecution, the public security authority handling the case has formally opened a criminal investigation. Going forward, the Yongning District Tobacco Monopoly Bureau in Nanning will further consolidate the results of its earlier cleanup and rectification of tobacco-related illegal activities, continue strong and effective efforts to regulate the cigarette and vaping market order in Nanning, and effectively safeguard the normal business order of the cigarette and vaping market.
