Bangladesh Minister Proposes Higher Import Duties on E-cigarettes

According to today's news from the Dhaka Forum, Bangladesh's Finance Minister Mustafa Kamal has proposed a significant increase in import duties on e-cigarettes and their components in the proposed budget for the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
The import duty on e-cigarettes will rise from 5% to 25%, while the duty on e-cigarette components will increase by 100%. Previously, there were no import duties on e-cigarette components.
The minister also suggested imposing an additional 150% duty on liquid nicotine and transdermal nicotine.
The proposed measures aim to raise import duties and increase the cost of importing e-cigarettes and related components to regulate their use and reduce their prevalence.
