Vietnamese government to restrict e-cigarette use
The Vietnamese government has approved a new national plan to restrict the use of e-cigarettes, water pipes, and other novel tobacco products.
According to media reports today, this is part of a comprehensive plan proposed by the Ministry of Health to prevent the harmful effects of smoking.
The goal is to reduce the smoking rate among men over 15 years old to below 39% and the smoking rate among women to below 1.4%.
It also aims to prevent passive smoking in workplaces, restaurants, hotels, coffee shops, and other public places.
The report suggests conducting research on the negative impacts of tobacco, especially new products.
The government is also working to increase taxes on e-cigarettes and other tobacco products and to determine their minimum prices.
