easyJet Flight Cargo Bin Catches Fire: Caused by a Passenger’s E-Cigarette
According to reports from Civil Aviation Resources Net on May 22, 2023: Comprehensive foreign media reports state that on May 18, local time, an easyJet Airbus A320-200 (registration number HB-JZY) was operating flight U2-1517 from Geneva (Switzerland) to Amsterdam (Netherlands) with 191 people on board. When the aircraft climbed to an altitude of about 7,000 feet, the crew requested to return to Geneva, reporting that a fire had broken out in the cabin's luggage compartment, which was quickly extinguished.

According to passenger descriptions, they heard a bang and saw smoke coming from the overhead luggage compartment, where two pieces of luggage were on fire. Analysis suggests that the fire may have been caused by an e-cigarette in the luggage compartment.
About 16 minutes after takeoff, the plane safely landed on runway 04 in Geneva, and emergency rescue personnel boarded the aircraft to conduct a safety inspection of the cabin.
