Alabama House approves vaping regulation bill
Today, on May 18, news reports that the Alabama House of Representatives has approved a bill to regulate the use of electronic cigarettes.
The bill makes it illegal for retailers to sell any electronic cigarette products to individuals under the age of 21. It also expands the definition of electronic nicotine delivery systems to include any products that deliver substances other than tobacco.
It prohibits the sale of tobacco vending machines in places where individuals under 21 are allowed to purchase tobacco.
"It defines nicotine-free products so that they can be regulated alongside all other products. It regulates the sale of electronic e-liquids," said D-Mobile County Representative Barbara Drummond.
The representatives had only one opposing vote.
The bill is now referred to the Senate committee for further review.
