Trinidad and Tobago: West Indian Tobacco Targets the Vaping Market
Key point: According to the Trinidad Express, West Indian Tobacco Company (WITCO) plans to launch vaping products and is also studying cannabis-related opportunities.
Today’s news, April 28: According to the Trinidad Express, West Indian Tobacco Company (WITCO) plans to launch vaping products and is also studying the use of cannabis.
“The research is very clear: vaping devices are 95% safer than cigarettes, so they do not carry the same risk profile,” said WITCO Managing Director Raoul Glynn. “That is why public health authorities in the UK are providing vaping products to one million consumers there. We saw this during Carnival in T&T, where people felt more comfortable using vaping devices than smoking cigarettes.”
“It is not one or the other, because we will continue to provide cigarettes for consumers who want to smoke, but we also want to provide vaping products for those consumers,” Glynn said.
