According to news from the UK retail industry media, Broughton, a consulting agency specializing in the analysis, testing, and regulatory support of nicotine products, recently released a guide for electronic cigarette distributors and retailers on identifying illegal electronic cigarettes. The guide outlines the six most important identification points for electronic cigarettes, and the absence of any of these points may indicate that the electronic cigarette is illegal.

We obtained this identification guide, and the original image is as follows. The six points are: whether it states that the oil volume does not exceed 2ml, whether there is an ingredient list clearly indicating that nicotine does not exceed 2%, whether there is information on the nicotine per puff, batch number, and manufacturer details, whether there are health warnings, and whether the warning text is printed in compliance, and whether there are CE, UKCA, and other marks.
Last week, UK regulatory authorities announced that the Department of Health would allocate £3 million to establish a law enforcement team to combat illegal sales. As a member of the UK Electronic Cigarette Association, Broughton also provides data and other support to regulatory authorities. In other words, products lacking the aforementioned six identification points will be key targets for enforcement.
