Malaysia Plans New Bill to Regulate E-Cigarettes
The Malaysian Ministry of Health plans to submit a new bill to regulate smoking products to Parliament in May, particularly to strengthen the regulation of nicotine-containing e-cigarettes. Malaysian Health Minister Zaliha recently stated that the new bill aims to ensure comprehensive regulation of formulations used in e-cigarettes, namely nicotine-containing liquids and gels. Zaliha said, "The Ministry of Health has convened all relevant parties, including members of Parliament, non-governmental organizations, professional institutions, and smoking cessation organizations, to participate in discussions on the regulations of the relevant bill." Additionally, Zaliha mentioned that awareness campaigns will be strengthened, including collaborations with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, the Youth Council, and relevant NGOs, to raise awareness among young people about the health hazards of smoking.
