Belgian Federal Health Minister Frank Vandenbroucke stated that Belgium also plans to tighten regulations on e-cigarettes.

"E-cigarettes contain about 1,800 different products, and we are far from understanding all the health consequences," he said. "Some people may switch from regular cigarettes to e-cigarettes, but perhaps by using e-cigarettes, people will ultimately just smoke regular cigarettes."

Belgium currently does not plan to ban flavored e-cigarettes, but a royal decree will soon be issued to impose more restrictions on the sale of flavored e-cigarettes. Vandenbroucke said: "These flavors will no longer be allowed to use trendy names, and e-cigarettes will no longer be allowed to use lights."

The industry will have a six-month transition period to adapt to the new rules, with an additional six months to sell existing inventory.
