There is a saying that 2018 was the year of pod vapes, with all kinds of pod systems hitting the market one after another, such as the Huoqi ECS capsule pod vape that was heavily discussed on forums a few days ago. This review is of a pod vape called SPOD.
1. Packaging It comes in a white top-and-bottom box with the product name and an image of the device on the front. On the back is a description of what is included in the package. Note the text in the upper left corner: the package used to contain five pods, but that has been crossed out and changed to 2. Inside the package are the accessories: at the top is the pod box, which originally held 5 pods but currently has 2. In the middle are a multilingual user manual including Chinese and a certificate of conformity. On the bottom row from left to right are the charging case, device, pod retention cover, and mini-USB charging cable.
2. Product display
This is what it looks like with the pod installed.

3. Component breakdown
The product is fairly simple. From left to right are two pods (the pod types are probably distinguished by mouthpiece color), the device and pod retention cover in the middle, and the charging case on the right.
4. User experience
The overall structure feels very familiar, a bit like IQOS, so much so that when I first saw the packaging I thought it was an IQOS imitation. In fact, this SPOD is different: the pod does not contain tobacco, but e-liquid. However, the charging-case storage method is similar to IQOS, which greatly improves battery life while also making it convenient to carry and cleaner overall.
After trying it, I found the draw resistance quite high—higher than a real cigarette, and at least as tight as Wuziqi. You need to pull with some force. The vapor production is much greater than that of a typical pod vape. The pod I tried was tobacco flavor, and the taste was decent—clearly better than many other pod vapes, though it did have a slight artificial flavoring note. The throat hit is not very strong, and it takes a few puffs to satisfy cravings (I did not see any marking for flavor or nicotine strength). Even with consecutive puffs, there was no burnt taste.
The device is very light and comfortable to hold, and the matte finish does not pick up fingerprints. The charging case is about the size of a typical regulated box mod, feels comfortable in the hand, and is also quite light. It is labeled 2200mAh, so battery capacity is ample.
This device feels like a hybrid concept: the device and charging/storage setup follow a split-body design, while the pods use an e-liquid-based approach.
I searched on Taobao and could not find this product. I do not know the price, especially the price of the pods, and for the moment it does not seem to be available for purchase.
To keep using it, I tried refilling it with e-liquid, and it worked. The image above is a close-up of the original black-mouthpiece pod; note that the e-liquid is almost transparent.
The image above shows a close-up of the black-mouthpiece pod after I refilled it. The e-liquid has turned golden. I filled it with my own nicotine salt e-liquid, over 24mg. This feels quite strong when used—just two puffs satisfy the craving. The throat hit is still not very strong, but it does hit the nose a bit and sometimes makes me sneeze.
In fact, refilling it yourself can cause leakage. Even after taking certain precautions, the corresponding area on the device was slightly damp after I finished that self-refilled pod, so I especially want to remind everyone to pay attention to safety. I also used a syringe to check the pod capacity, and it is about 1.5ml. I will not go into the specific refilling method or provide diagrams here.
5. Overall evaluation
Highlights:
1. Compact and portable, comfortable to hold, clean and hygienic.
2. Produces significantly more vapor than other pod vapes, with fairly good flavor reproduction.
3. Strong battery life.
Drawbacks:
Not exactly a major complaint, but I still have to mention it: changing the pack from 5 pods to 2 feels a bit stingy. If it still came with 5 pods, I probably would not have bothered trying to refill them myself so soon.
Overall verdict:
I have not used many pod vapes, but SPOD is the fourth one I have tried, and it is also my favorite so far. It looks great, is clean and portable, has solid battery life, produces plenty of vapor, and tastes good.
It is very convenient to take out with you, and as a pod vape, it has no obvious issues or major flaws.
I plan to use this pod vape when going out or at private gatherings. #p#分页标题#e#
