Berserker Atomizer Review and Coil Build Specs
The domestic vaping market is showing a back-to-basics trend. In this cycle, products aimed at advanced users have reached something of a bottleneck, and until a product appears that breaks the stalemate, compact pod-style devices and MTL tank products ar
The development of the electronic cigarette market in China has entered a "return to simplicity" phase. Products targeting the player community have reached a bottleneck, so before any breakthrough products emerge, pod systems have once again become popular. Today, I want to share the Berserker MTL atomizer from VANDYVAPE, which has recently gained a lot of attention as a mouth-to-lung atomizer. In this article, I will not only review this atomizer but also discuss the so-called "flavor" in the most straightforward way.
The Berserker atomizer actually comes in a 24mm version and a 22mm mini version, so the following conclusions apply only to the 24mm version. Upon opening, you can see it comes with a multilingual manual (excluding Chinese), an extended tank, rubber O-rings, two 2.5mm diameter Clapton coils, and a part for disassembling the atomizer tank.
This atomizer has been marketed with slogans like "beyond five-in-a-row" and "king of flavor," and players have praised it highly. But is it really that magical to win over the most discerning consumers? When I first took the atomizer out of the packaging, I could already sense the residual machine oil on it.
After disassembly, the main components are shown in the image above. Its craftsmanship is quite average in today's market, and the presence of machining debris and oil residue is concerning. However, the threading of the components is relatively smooth.
The drip tip is made of PEI and POM materials, both with a 510 specification (one of the highest standards for flavor-focused players), and the top cap indicates that it supports top-filling.
The middle tank features a separate part to secure the atomizer tank, with reverse threading. The part included in the accessory pack is used for this purpose.
The image above shows how to install the extended tank on the Berserker atomizer. You can also see that the atomizer's tank and central airflow are quite small, providing strong condensation (the highest standard for flavor-focused players—dome condensation + compressed airflow).
The airflow holes provide five different diameters to accommodate different coil specifications. The largest airflow hole does not seem to support the Clapton coils included in the accessory pack (the highest standard for flavor-focused players—small airflow).
There are several key points to note about the base. First, there is an angled recess below the electrode platform. Additionally, the cotton filling area is designed with two grooves and two oil holes, along with the diameter of the central airflow hole. The electrode posts are similar to those of the KF5/6, making it easy to install coils. PS: The outer rubber ring of the base is very easy to come off, so be careful when cleaning.
First, using the Clapton coil (0.75Ω) provided by the manufacturer, I found that opening the airflow to maximum made it feel extremely constricted for this type of wire. The higher heat generation of the Clapton coil severely affects the flavor of the e-liquid, which is entirely due to the imbalance of internal and external airflow. Therefore, I recommend using a standard A1 coil with this atomizer. The image above shows a 0.4mm A1 wire/2.5mm diameter/8 wraps, with a resistance of 0.95Ω. You can also choose to use a 0.32mm wire (the highest standard for flavor-focused players—high resistance), but I do not recommend using a 0.5mm wire, as it still feels constricted.
While taking review photos, the above two images used the standard cotton filling method for all oil tanks on the market, using a moderate amount of cotton and filling it properly, while also leaving some cotton to peek through the oil holes (the cotton was not overly loosened). However, after adding e-liquid, I found that it experienced oil delivery issues after less than five puffs.
Even after trying the "loosen the cotton" method, it still had oil delivery problems. In my four years of vaping experience, this is the first atomizer that has oil delivery issues right from the first use. I later asked five other players who also own the Berserker atomizer, and they all reported the same issue. Their solutions were to "take slower puffs," "pause after each puff," and "mouth-to-lung atomizers are like this." At least, under the banner of "beyond five-in-a-row," the KF structure does not have this problem, which is quite ironic but also very real.
This clearly indicates that there is a significant design flaw in the oil delivery grooves and holes. To completely resolve this, you need to loosen the cotton and ensure that the cotton is minimal and reaches the bottom of the oil holes. If the cotton is so minimal that it would cause leaking in other atomizers, the Berserker atomizer can achieve perfect oil delivery. However, this is not a straightforward solution, and managing the cotton amount requires some experience.
In terms of flavor performance, the Berserker atomizer, like all mouth-to-lung tanks, presents a polarized situation: either the "flavor" is extremely poor, or it is "super rich." This situation arises not only from the choice of coil but also primarily from the e-liquid's composition and nicotine content.

The coil data generally suggests that the thicker the wire, the larger the airflow should be. If you use a 0.32mm wire to make dual coils on a Kennedy atomizer, it would be similar to using a 0.7mm wire on this type of atomizer, and calling it "rich flavor" would be misleading. This is more about trying to cover up a lack of understanding rather than an actual issue that can be resolved with experience.
The more critical point lies in the choice of e-liquid. E-liquids with high VG content are often more suitable for dripping or dual-coil tanks, so mouth-to-lung tanks were so popular in the earlier market because there were not many e-liquids available, and many were still high PG. Combined with the limitations of the atomizer market, this has led to the absurd notion that "mouth-to-lung tanks provide rich flavor" and "dripping is just for big vapor." However, most players and vendors who once praised flavor have now shifted to promoting dripping or dual-coil tanks, which is not only amusing but also indicative of market changes.
Therefore, even though mouth-to-lung tanks are experiencing a resurgence, the selection of e-liquids remains quite limited. As shown in the image above, the Malaysian Little Green Man, HALO, and five-in-a-row are the only representatives of the high PG e-liquid faction. If you want to use most of the high VG e-liquids available on the market in this type of atomizer, claiming "rich flavor" is merely superficial.
First, I tested the Little Green Man (6mg), and its flavor was as familiar as ever, with a lychee-based mixed fruit flavor and a hint of mint that resonates well, describing it as "very rich flavor"; when using HALO (15th President 12mg), the tobacco aroma combined with a higher nicotine concentration can be described as "explosively rich flavor"; then, when trying the well-known five-in-a-row e-liquid, its "flavor" can only be described as "watered down" and "desolate in taste," at best, it can only be called "a hint of flavor," let alone any terms like "clear layers." This gives a resounding slap to those who preach the "flavor theory."
The "super condensation" 510 drip tip + "super condensation" atomizer + small airflow + high resistance all meet the flavor-focused players' standards for "rich flavor." Why does it perform poorly even with well-known five-in-a-row e-liquid? The reason is that this e-liquid has a nicotine content of 3mg. When discussing whether the "flavor" is "rich," a significant factor is the nicotine content, as the throat hit from nicotine greatly stimulates taste and throat sensations. Therefore, players' psychological and sensory satisfaction is naturally achieved through the stimulation of nicotine. If you don't believe it, you can purchase e-liquids with 18mg nicotine content and 0mg nicotine content, and you can be sure that you will receive "flavor as wonderful as heaven and earth" and "flavor as desolate as hell" on a mouth-to-lung atomizer.
This statement, while exaggerated, ironically tells everyone that achieving "rich flavor" on a mouth-to-lung atomizer is closely related to nicotine content.
In today's market, where flower wires dominate and dripping large tanks sweep the scene, high VG e-liquids are what most players love for their "flavor." In the pursuit of "flavor," discarding misleading articles and hype while acknowledging reality is essential. Understanding how to evaluate an atomizer and how to match airflow and coil specifications is the true path to "flavor." At the same time, players need to have a certain understanding of e-liquids to match them correctly. These are not just theoretical discussions; the data on coils and e-liquids mentioned in this article directly address the characteristics of the Berserker atomizer and all mouth-to-lung tanks. Mastering the correct usage methods is always better than "hearing about it" and will lead to a richer "flavor" experience, whether for dripping or tank systems.
Finally, I need to summarize the Berserker atomizer. Its craftsmanship and the presence of oil stains can only be considered average in today's market. More critically, its unreasonable oil delivery design is a significant flaw. Even though it has received high praise both domestically and internationally, under the current circumstances, it can only receive a poor rating here. The electronic cigarette devices today are not what they used to be, and expecting players to adapt to the device is unreasonable. If I had to find a reason that aligns with the market, it would be that its shape and top-filling feature make it more suitable for the current general player's usage habits.
