At that time, Klaypeng was known for its affordability and high cost-performance ratio. Although the craftsmanship and materials were not particularly refined, the brand still maintained a high market presence, as evidenced by nicknames like "Street Vendor Peng" and "Emperor Peng."
Today, I want to share with you a recent small pod product launched by Klaypeng, the S8.
Packaging:
It comes in a common plastic-sealed box with a lid, where the front indicates the color (pink~~~), the back contains a full Chinese packaging list and manufacturer introduction, and the side has a string of English indicating the eco-friendly packaging material, which is negligible. The outer layer also has a special sample label for testing purposes. (Could there be any difference from the retail version?)
Unboxing:
The contents of the box are as shown: main device (370mAh battery) + refillable pod (1.3Ω 2ml) + e-liquid (raspberry tobacco flavor 50:50 10ml 20mg nicotine salt) + data cable + user manual + warranty card + QC certificate + e-liquid brochure + syringe bottle for refilling.
The bilingual user manual clearly states the indicator light meanings and product parameters. Personally, I am particularly concerned about the battery capacity and atomizer specifications. From the data, it appears that the battery capacity is smaller than other small pods I have encountered, such as the SMPO I used recently, which had a 650mAh battery and 1.8ml capacity. Therefore, I was a bit worried about the S8's battery life when I first unboxed it.
Speaking of the S8's cute pink main device, I initially felt a bit reluctant to hold it. Looking at the previous two images, whether in appearance or color, who can deny that this resembles long-lost siblings... This soap-like device, if accidentally dropped, would need to be picked up carefully.
After unboxing and careful observation, I noticed that the items in the packaging had a thin layer of fuzz on them, especially on the main device and USB connection. I suspect this is debris from the inner packaging material. I suggest that manufacturers pay more attention to the quality of packaging materials in addition to the product itself. Although these fuzzes do not affect usage, they are visually unappealing.
Pod:
The pod has a flat and wide shape, which feels comfortable in the mouth. Additionally, the bottom of the pod indicates the atomizer parameters and recommended power (which is a bit puzzling; does the manufacturer think someone might use the pod on another device?). The atomizer does not use the popular ceramic core design but rather a more traditional heating wire + oil-wicking cotton structure.
Due to the pod's structure, the oil chamber is divided into two parts. Although the upper space of the airflow allows for some oil flow between the two sections, in actual use, it often happens that one half of the e-liquid is finished while the other half remains. Since the S8 does not have dry-burn protection, although I have not encountered a dry burn situation yet, I personally recommend that S8 users keep an eye on the e-liquid distribution in the chamber and adjust it as needed to prevent insufficient oil flow on one side from causing a dry burn.
Main Body:
The main body has a smooth and even paint finish, which is quite thick. I tried scratching it with a key, and it did not easily leave a mark. However, since the paint does not feel very hard, if it is kept with hard objects like keys for a long time, it is likely to leave some marks. As I could not find any official information about the material, I speculate based on the weight and feel that it is likely zinc alloy (please correct me if I am wrong). Compared to other small pods, it feels a bit heavier, but since it is not large, it is not cumbersome. The design of the electrode part does not satisfy me; the exposed screws and visible gaps between components could potentially cause issues if e-liquid leaks. Another point I find puzzling is the design of the indicator light. For small pods, the indicator light is an important part that shows the device's operational status, yet it is hidden inside the main body, which is a bit frustrating. I assume the designer thought that users could still see the indicator light through the semi-transparent pod while vaping, but the reality is otherwise. This means that aside from the first few seconds after removing the pod and when charging without a pod, the indicator light is almost non-existent for me. Why do I say almost? Usage Experience
Battery Life
After about three days of frequent use, I must say that the 370mAh battery is slightly lacking for me. Based on my usual vaping frequency, I generally need to charge it once a day. If I get lazy or forget to charge it at night, it’s best to bring a power bank and data cable when heading out with the S8 the next day. However, the advantage of the 370mAh battery is that it charges relatively quickly, taking about half an hour to fully charge.
Condensation
In the image, you can see the condensation after a day of use, with noticeable condensation near the airflow. Starting from the second refill, there were occasional instances of condensation at the mouthpiece, the specific reason for which is unclear. However, compared to the MT and SMPO, this experience is still slightly lacking.
About Stickers
Unable to tolerate the pink color, I urgently purchased stickers for the S8. However... because the stickers have exposed edges, they still couldn't completely cover the overwhelming girlish vibe. I also remind friends who want to buy stickers to decorate their S8 to choose stickers that match the base color of their S8.
Overall, Klaypeng continues to maintain its characteristic high cost-performance ratio.
