SMOK Priv M17 Review

The trend of electronic cigarettes is always closely related to the keywords of portability and ease of use. The resurgence of pod devices benefits from their simplicity, while adjustable devices meet the ease of use requirement with their battery life and output. Each has its own characteristics, and when it comes to choice, there is no best, only what is most suitable.
As summer arrives, it becomes difficult to fit larger adjustable devices under lightweight clothing. The larger vapor production of pod devices and the smaller size of adjustable devices naturally make them the preferred choice for outings. Today, I will share my experience with the Priv M17, which perfectly fills the gap between adjustable and pod devices, featuring a mini adaptive output main unit and a 17mm replaceable coil atomizer, encapsulated by the theme of "small."
The packaging features the actual product color, back information introduction, usage warnings, and a visible anti-counterfeit sticker, along with the familiar three-part inner box.
The kit includes: Priv M17 main unit, stick 17mm atomizer, spare glass tank, stick M17 0.6Ω atomizer heads x2, red and black decorative rings, accessory pack, USB data cable, instruction manual, and certificate of conformity.
Parameters:
Priv M17 Main Unit
Battery: 1200mAh built-in
Dimensions: (70x26.8x19.5)mm
Weight: 77.2g
Supported Resistance: 0.15Ω-2.5Ω
Input Voltage: 3.4v—4.2v
Maximum Output: 60W
Priv 17mm Atomizer
Dimensions: (17.5x55)mm
Weight: 32g
Capacity: 2ml
The name of the Priv 17mm product clearly indicates that it is a super mini atomizer with a diameter of 17mm. The SMOK atomizer family features are evident, including a snake-pattern drip tip, top-fill design, and bottom airflow adjustment ring. The 2ml oil capacity is not equipped with a light shade glass tank, which is the biggest difference between the Priv 17mm and the TFV series atomizers.
As per usual, the atomizer consists of five components: drip tip, top cap, glass tank, atomizer head, and base. The kit includes two stick M17 0.6Ω atomizer heads.
The familiar snake-pattern drip tip and top-fill structure are present, but due to the smaller size, the common locking button used by SMOK is not included. The base features one airflow hole on each side, adjustable via a rotating ring that can be detached from the base. The airflow structure still utilizes bottom airflow through the atomizer head.
The atomizer has a standard 510 connection at the bottom, allowing it to be paired with the Priv M17 main unit or any other mod or battery. The small lung draw resistance combined with the 0.6Ω atomizer head can produce moderate vapor, with a noticeable difference in draw resistance compared to the TFV series, making it one of the few small lung draw atomizers from SMOK.
The main unit can be described as a pure built-in battery mod, featuring a universal 510 connection, a single fire button, and adaptive output based on different atomizer resistances, supporting up to 60W. The main difference from common cylindrical mods lies in the comfort of the grip, which is often referred to as ergonomic design.
From the Priv M17 main unit, you can see many similarities with the SMOK PRIV V8 (interested friends can search for SMOK PRIV V8 KIT). The overall design is quite similar, featuring a large fire button, no need for adjustment, just press and use, and the same semi-mechanical adaptive output method. One focuses on replaceable batteries for immediate use, while the other emphasizes built-in batteries for immediate use. The difference is that the Priv M17, with its built-in 1200mAh battery, is more mini and portable, and the easy-to-use one-button operation is a common feature of both products.
The battery mod comes with safety protections, including short circuit protection, low voltage protection, overcharge protection, and an 8-second timeout protection. A white LED indicator light is visible on top, which can provide prompts for specific operations based on its blinking.
Pressing the fire button five times turns the device on/off, with the indicator light flashing three times,
Pressing the fire button while vaping keeps the indicator light on,
The low battery indicator flashes 15 times to prompt charging,
The 8-second timeout protection and short circuit protection flash four times
The charging red light stays on, and it turns off when fully charged, supporting use while charging.

The main unit supports adaptive output up to 60W. In practical tests, dual coils at 0.24Ω fired within 2-5 seconds, and there were no output issues with atomizers above 0.5Ω during daily use. The output voltage decreases as the battery level drops, which is a characteristic of such semi-mechanical mods, and the ability to use while charging is quite convenient.
The height and width comparison of the Priv M17 with a ballpoint pen shows that this size can easily fit into a shirt pocket.
In an era where pod and adjustable devices are flourishing, the Priv M17 perfectly fills the gap between the two, being compact, mini, unisex, refillable, with moderate vapor production, easy to use with one-button operation. This is its greatest advantage. The built-in 1200mAh battery presents a trade-off between size and battery life. The lack of a display screen and the inability to lock the fire button are common issues with such battery mods. Fortunately, the five-click on/off operation is not complicated. Overall, the Priv M17 is more geared towards beginners and portable experiences, making it a great reference choice for a daily convenient device.
