Ovale eCom D19 Pen Review: A Beginner-Friendly Smoking Alternative Setup
As vaping devices continue to evolve, mouth-to-lung high-vapor products have become less common in the market. However, these products still meet strong demand from beginners, users looking for a simple smoking alternative, and those who value portability
With the development of electronic cigarette devices, the production of mouth-to-lung devices that produce large vapor has decreased somewhat in the market. However, for beginners in vaping, as well as electronic cigarette users who are purely looking to quit smoking and those who require high portability, such products still have a high demand. Moreover, for many onlookers who are completely unfamiliar with electronic cigarettes, smaller stick-style devices are more easily accepted. Today, I would like to share a very special stick device, the Ovale eCom D19, which is a great choice for those who prefer mouth-to-lung vaping.
Before receiving the test product, I did a bit of homework and learned that OVALE Industrial Group was established in January 2010, funded by investors from Italy, the USA, South Korea, and China. The headquarters is located in Milan, Italy, with factories in Changzhou, Europe, and America, and sales representatives in Eurasia and North America, with flagship stores on JD and Taobao. (This information is from OVALE's official website) 1. Packaging The packaging is a simple white box with a picture of the device printed on it, as if to tell you, "Here I am! This is what I look like." The large air intake is right in front of you, saying, "Are you a beginner? Don't hesitate, for mouth-to-lung vaping, choose me, you won't regret it!" The D19 kit comes in three colors: black, red, and silver, with an overall mature style. The integrated design of the stick and atomizer makes it more convenient to carry. The overall length is 119mm, weighing 73g, and even if you just hook it with your pinky finger throughout the day, it won't feel heavy. The box cover features a full-body photo of the D19, while the bottom of the box contains some parameters, the official website, QR codes for the public account, manufacturer information, etc. The packaging box contains all useful items, including a manual, the stick, an atomizer (with one atomizing core inside), a charging cable, a spare atomizing core, a pack of accessories including rubber rings, a certificate of conformity, and a warning card.
2. Manual
The manual is bilingual in Chinese and English, concise and to the point. The manual is an important part of the product; some manufacturers do not pay attention to it, and some users neglect it, learning how to adjust the device only after half a year of use, while the manual clearly states everything.
This product is not a mechanical stick; it has three protections: overcharge, over-discharge, and short circuit, which are very beneficial for protecting users, especially beginners.
3. Product Showcase
The interface between the atomizer and the stick is a 510 interface. The stick I received is in stainless steel color, which is my favorite color, so I feel lucky. The surface of the stick has a brushed finish, making it comfortable to hold, non-slip, and does not leave obvious fingerprints.
The atomizer has a pressure relief hole at the bottom of the stick.
4. User Experience
This is a review, not a usage tutorial, so I won't go into basic operations. The stick has two modes: constant voltage mode and non-constant voltage mode. In the off state, long-pressing the switch button will light up the indicator light on the 510 interface, which can be red or white.
Only one of the two colors will light up; if it's not the one you want, you can release the button and long-press again to switch, which is quite convenient.
The switch button is made of rubber material, slightly raised above the surface of the stick, making it easy to find by touch, with a good tactile feel and a clear pressing stroke.
The atomizer's air intake is at the bottom, and as shown in the picture below, it can achieve semi-infinite adjustment, with three air holes for three levels of adjustment. When the wide slot at the back opens, it enters into infinite adjustment.
The e-liquids used for this device review are as follows: Luxury Mission's Cuban Cigar, Frozen Alien, and Mango Smoothie 888.
Using a golden finished atomizing core with a resistance of 0.5 ohms, I tried the mango smoothie, which is my favorite and most familiar flavor. Even without opening the air intake, I could still get a little vapor, indicating that the air intake's airtightness needs improvement. With three air holes open, the draw resistance felt quite large, close to that of real tobacco, with a small vapor volume and moderate richness, and the layers were relatively clear. Opening three air holes plus a bit of the wide slot gave the best flavor experience; however, opening it to three holes plus half the wide slot made the flavor feel noticeably empty. After taking several puffs, I felt the atomizer's glass chamber warm, while the stick itself remained cool, with no heating issues.
In constant voltage mode, the vapor feels slightly smaller, while in non-constant voltage mode, the vapor is a bit larger.
Switching to a silver finished atomizing core with a resistance of 1.2 ohms and using Cuban cigar e-liquid, I found that three air holes were very suitable, allowing the sweetness and richness of the e-liquid to be experienced, with a smaller vapor volume but good flavor.
When refilling with two different atomizing cores, there was no leakage whether the air intake was closed or not.
The overall battery life is decent; I was able to vape intermittently for over 4 hours and still continue to work in constant voltage mode.
5. Other Features
Since it has a 510 interface, I had to try a DIY atomizer, using the KFP atomizer (please ignore the drip tip I swapped on). A1 wire 28Ga, 7 wraps, resistance 0.98 ohms, with Frozen Alien e-liquid.
It felt a bit mismatched; the atomizer has a diameter of 22mm, while the stick is 19mm, which doesn't quite fit. I wanted to find something to bridge the gap to make it look natural, but couldn't find anything; the anti-slip ring I wanted was too loose on the 19mm stick and wouldn't stay in place.
In non-constant voltage mode, it felt slightly better; with the air intake opened to the maximum of KFP, the vapor was decent, and the flavor was also good, with a prominent tobacco taste. In constant voltage mode, the vapor was slightly smaller, but the flavor was basically the same as in non-constant voltage mode.
6. Conclusion
Highlights:
1. Lightweight and portable: The D19 stick, equipped with a built-in atomizer, is about the thickness of a thumb and approximately 2cm shorter than an average ballpoint pen, making it very natural to carry in your pocket or small bag. It's very light, and after playing with it for a while, picking it up again feels a bit heavy on the wrist, haha, it seems I can't enjoy comfortable days for too long.
2. Safety features provide peace of mind. Overcharge and over-discharge protections can extend battery life, and short circuit protection ensures safety, which is especially important for beginners.
3. Easy operation. There is just one button, and adjusting the device only requires quick presses or long presses, making it easy to learn.
4. Good flavor. Please note that it is good, not excellent. The 0.5 ohm finished core can handle both fruit and tobacco e-liquids. The 1.2 ohm core also provides a decent flavor for tobacco e-liquids. The air intake can be adjusted to achieve a draw resistance close to that of real tobacco.
5. User-friendly details. From the brushed finish of the stick that resists fingerprints to the comfortable tactile feel of the button with a clear stroke, and the 40 flashes warning when the battery is low (for example, if you are focused on something and the battery runs out, you might not notice a few flashes, but 40 flashes will definitely catch your attention), the simple and clear bilingual manual all reflect thoughtful design.
6. Decent battery life. For someone who vapes frequently like me, a battery life of over 4 hours is undoubtedly practical. The charging port is a common mini USB port, allowing for charging with a power bank.
Drawbacks:
1. Quality control needs improvement in some areas. First, the atomizer can produce a bit of vapor even when the air intake is closed (the sealing rubber ring is intact); second, the atomizing core is quite tight and difficult to remove (it can be easily unscrewed if turned upside down); third, the box is a bit loose, requiring careful handling to avoid dropping it.
2. It would be better if the stick were 3mm thicker. This would allow for a larger built-in battery, improving battery life, and it would fit perfectly with many flavor atomizers.
3. The e-liquid capacity is slightly small. At 2ml, I can vape 6mg Frozen Alien for about 2 hours, while 3mg would probably last about an hour; it would be better if the capacity were a bit larger.
4. The OVALE ECOM D19 kit is positioned for smokers looking to quit. From my experience with new smokers, they tend to prefer high nicotine and high throat hit e-liquids compared to those of us who have been vaping for a long time. With lower nicotine content, they may find it less satisfying, so this product should perform well when paired with high nicotine e-liquids, making it suitable for beginners.
Overall:
The D19 is easy to use, lightweight, portable, particularly suitable for tobacco e-liquids, and equipped with safety features. These main characteristics indicate that this device is very suitable for new smokers looking to quit, and of course, experienced users can also use it as an on-the-go device, especially in relatively enclosed and small spaces (the vapor is not too large).#p#Pagination Title#e#
