New ceramic coil pod systems seem to be quite popular this year. This new technology is suitable for pod and salt nicotine devices and is known as FEELM — launched by FEELM Tech, a subsidiary of Smoore Technology, which is also the parent company of VAPORESSO.
FEELM ceramic coils will provide users with a fresh flavor experience, stable temperature control, and no leakage issues with the pods. This new coil technology has already seen some representative products in the market, such as FEELM Tech's Libro Pro, Liberty Flights' Dot Vape, and Hexapod.
Device specifications:
Leak-proof design; FEELM coil technology; automatic ignition switch; 2ml e-liquid capacity (pre-filled with 20mg salt nicotine); user-friendly pod design, no need for refilling; battery size: 88mm*20mm; pod size: 45mm*20mm; 350mAh battery, supports fast charging; 3.7V output voltage (6.5W); resistance range: 1-1.3 ohms; magnetic connection design.
The Libro device I reviewed does not explicitly state the product name on the body, only indicating "FEELM Technology Tester" at the bottom, suggesting that Libro may just be a code name. I attempted to search online for information about the Libro device but found no relevant details.
Aside from the unique coil technology, the overall appearance of the Libro device does not differ much from various devices released after Juul, and its size is similar to SMOK's Infinix. The device houses a 350mAh battery, and the pod uses a plug-and-play magnetic attachment design, with a 2ml capacity that provides a tight mouth-to-lung experience.
The ignition time of the Libro is slightly slow. Although there is a slight gap between the pod and the device, the pod still fits well onto the device. The Libro supports USB fast charging, but actual charging takes about 30 minutes, which is average for similar devices.
I received two concentrations of salt nicotine, 20mg and 45mg, with flavors including tobacco, fruit, blueberry, strawberry, and watermelon. The fruit flavor is my personal favorite. While I am not particularly fond of the other flavors, they all provide a decent experience. The tobacco flavor is quite similar to common tobacco pods, while the other flavors have a candy-like aroma, and the fruit pod offers a distinct mixed fruit scent.
The FEELM coil features a unique design, made from a gray ceramic material, with two wires at the bottom for power connection. The heating element is an S-shaped metal film embedded within the ceramic, and the e-liquid is delivered through a black plastic gasket at the top of the ceramic. This coil does not contain any cotton or heating wires.
Aside from the innovative design, users may be concerned about two important questions: Does the new FEELM coil outperform traditional coils? Can it deliver the outstanding experience as advertised?
In actual use, the FEELM coil has good oil delivery speed, allowing users to enjoy a warm vapor experience and smooth inhalation resistance, while the vapor also provides a satisfying throat hit. Throughout the usage, the pod did not exhibit any condensation, leakage, or dry hits, and it operated quietly. Due to the pod's 2ml capacity and non-refillable nature, we cannot determine the pod's lifespan, as nearly all pods can function normally within the 2ml limit. So far, I have used six pods, but I cannot say there is any essential difference compared to traditional coils. While dry hits are rare, they can still occur occasionally.
Overall, I am happy to recommend the Libro to players looking for a pod device; it is a reliable option. As for the FEELM atomizer core, its performance and experience are not significantly different from traditional coils, and can even be said to be on par with CCELL coils, but I do not consider it a revolutionary innovation. The overall performance of FEELM is excellent, but I cannot say it is particularly outstanding, as I have not tested it with my own e-liquids.
