A few days ago, a friend asked me which single-coil dripping atomizer is recommended. At that time, I didn't pay much attention, but recently I've been enjoying using pod systems. Coincidentally, someone brought me the DROP SOLO RDA for review, which means the star of today's article is the DROP SOLO RDA. This is a follow-up product from DIGIFLAVOR in collaboration with THE VAPOR CHRONICLES, following the DROP RDA. The official description states that the DROP SOLO RDA is the 22MM version of the DROP RDA, clearly marked with DESIGNED BY TVC on the official website.
The factory configuration of the DROP SOLO RDA is very rich. In addition to the stainless steel body, it comes with a white PMMA top cap and a 24MM decorative base. It includes O-rings, pre-made Clapton coils, a bottom fill screw, a 510 drip tip adapter, hex and flat screwdrivers, and spare screws, among other essentials.
The two top caps differ in height and material, but the biggest difference is in the airflow hole design. The PMMA cap has fewer top holes compared to the stainless steel version, while the two different lengths and thicknesses of the 810 drip tips have similar diameters, allowing users to choose and replace as needed.
The DROP SOLO RDA is designed with a 22MM diameter, and the 24MM decorative ring allows the atomizer to perfectly match a 24MM diameter mechanical mod. As seen in the image, aside from slight functional differences, the aesthetic appeal of the two caps after replacement is completely different, showcasing two distinct styles.
The overall craftsmanship of this dripping atomizer is excellent. It's worth mentioning that if you replace the bottom fill screw, as shown in the image, the screw will protrude outward to a certain height, consistent with the design of the DROP RDA. This ensures that e-liquid is pushed into the deck without being sucked back into the bottle.
The 5MM deep juice well provides an extremely practical experience for this RDA, thanks to the side airflow design. Whether top dripping or bottom filling, the sufficiently deep juice well allows ample short-term retention space for e-liquid before it is absorbed by the cotton.
Compared to the 24MM DROP RDA, the DROP SOLO RDA adopts a native single-coil design, making various Clapton coils the best choice. Due to the structure of the deck's wire locking mechanism, the only drawback of this atomizer is that you need to lock the wire legs before bending them down, ensuring that the top of the coil is flush with the deck.
The deep and wide juice well, combined with fluffy and appropriately sized cotton, significantly extends the duration of each fill. However, even with a deep juice well, you should not blindly overfill the e-liquid. Excessive e-liquid that cannot be absorbed by the cotton will easily lead to a situation where you inhale vapor along with liquid.
The ratio of vapor to air is a crucial factor in determining the flavor quality of an atomizer. Based on the included Clapton coils, the airflow through the four holes (eight holes in total on both sides) provides a moderate draw resistance, resulting in a solid flavor and vapor density without any emptiness.
After using it for a while, aside from the condensation that accumulates near the drip tip needing regular cleaning, the DROP SOLO RDA seems to have no significant flaws to point out. It offers moderate draw resistance, rich flavor, low output requirements for single coils (energy-saving), convenience for bottom or top filling, a non-locking base, and easy single coil installation. This is a standard representative of a "good and reliable" device.
As electronic cigarette devices have evolved, the bottleneck in structural innovation has prompted many designers to rethink practicality. The cross-industry collaborations between various brands and independent designers have achieved a win-win situation of "mutual benefit." Although pod systems currently dominate a significant portion of the market, many innovative products continue to emerge, just like the DROP SOLO RDA shared in this article. While it may not be the most outstanding or beautiful, it is indeed a well-functioning dripping atomizer without any obvious shortcomings.
