RELX 5th Gen Phantom User Experience Review

Hi everyone, I’ll take the first puff. I personally have 2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation devices. First, about the feel of the device: the 4th and 5th generations feel almost exactly the same in hand, with hardly any difference. But the pod is different. The

Hey everyone, I’ll take the first puff in salute. I personally own the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gen devices.

First, let’s talk about how the device feels in the hand. The 4th and 5th gen feel almost exactly the same—basically no difference. But!!! The pods are different. The 5th gen tastes smoother than the 4th, and the flavor is richer. I opened the watermelon flavor, and one puff delivered a strong watermelon taste straight to the throat. That’s something the 4th gen watermelon didn’t have, simply put.

The draw resistance on the 5th gen is almost the same as the 4th—practically zero—and it produces a lot of vapor. But the 5th gen flavor is richer than the 4th. If the flavors are otherwise similar, I recommend the 5th gen. Both the 4th and 5th gen pods can be inserted either way, but one downside is that the connection point between the pod and device can feel a bit loose. Hmm... the 5th gen also looks a bit cooler... and it vibrates after 15 puffs.

Today I was lucky enough to receive the Phantom “gunmetal” edition as a Black Gold member, and the official package included a box of star-flavor pods. Let’s start with the packaging: the outer and inner packaging are basically the same as the 4th gen, with almost no difference. But once I opened it, it was really eye-catching. It has flat sides and rounded corners, kind of like an iPhone, and it looks very nice. The battery indicator light is very striking. For appearance, I’d give it 4.5 points. As for the pods, although they’re compatible with the 4th gen, the appearance is still quite different—kind of like a combination of a 4th gen pod and a 2nd gen pod.

Finally, let’s talk about the inhalation feel and flavor, which is what everyone cares about most. The fine draw sensation is slightly worse than the 4th gen, and the inhaling sound is quite loud—comparable to a paper cigarette, or even louder. The draw resistance is a bit stronger than the 4th gen, and the vapor production is about the same, without any major difference. It’s also not especially suitable for indoor use.

As for flavor, I tried the cola pod. I’d rate the cooling at 3 out of 5—maybe the winter weather reduced the cooling sensation. The soft, smooth feel also wasn’t great, so I can only give it 2.5 points. The cola flavor intensity was also quite light, so I’d only give that 2.5 as well. Overall, I’d give full marks to the 5th gen’s appearance, but only 3 points for the pod flavor. Overall, the device itself doesn’t really need improvement, but the pods definitely do.
