Boulder vape - new Amber edition

Boulder was among the earliest vaping brands to enter the domestic Chinese market and has long been known in the industry for its high-quality e-liquid and solid technical expertise. Amber, one of Boulder’s flagship pod-based products, has also won support and popularity among many smokers.

Recently, media reports revealed that Boulder is set to launch a brand-new Amber, which may become the first pod-based electronic cigarette compliant with China’s national standard. So, what exactly has been upgraded in the new Amber compared with the previous generation? Let’s take a look.

A premium, upscale look has always been consumers’ first impression of Boulder Amber. In addition to the business-style pearl black and pearl white color options, the new-generation Amber also adds a fresher, more vibrant gradient pearl blue. From the deep, mysterious undersea world to the sunny Hawaiian coast, gradient pearl blue not only enriches users’ color choices, but also reflects Boulder’s more diversified brand identity.

Compared with the previous generation, the new Amber has been slightly upgraded in size, measuring 101/25/3mm for a better grip. In addition, at the connection point between the pod and device, the new Amber uses a uniquely shaped “Boulder Mountain” interface, further enhancing product recognition. It is understood that such a custom-shaped interface places higher demands on pod and device manufacturing. If misalignment or gaps occur during docking, the risk of poor pod contact or even e-liquid leakage increases. The specially shaped interface on the new Amber showcases the strength of Boulder’s in-house product supply chain.

From the new Bling to the new Amber, Boulder’s R&D team has consistently challenged the industry bottleneck of “e-liquid capacity.” This time, Boulder’s new Amber increases pod reservoir capacity to 3.5ml, with actual fill volume reaching 3ml, exceeding at least 75% of similar products in the industry. For electronic cigarettes, increasing e-liquid capacity also means increasing the risk of leakage, and a 1.6ml fill volume has become the industry’s safety line due to technical maturity. This time, Boulder’s new Amber features a 3.5ml reservoir, demonstrating its strong technical R&D capabilities and ability to commercialize patents. Consistent with the strategy behind the new Bling, it is clear that Boulder is trying to spark a new wave of change in the pod-based market with the new Amber.

For 2% nicotine e-liquid, the new Amber has comprehensively upgraded its atomization system, aiming to deliver the most authentic smoking sensation possible under low-nicotine conditions. According to official materials, the new Amber pioneers seventh-generation graphene ceramic honeycomb heating technology. Honeycomb ceramic coils are the mainstream choice for pod-based products in the industry, and Boulder has further refined this process: the thickness of the ceramic heating wall has been reduced from 2mm to 1mm to increase e-liquid atomization speed; the honeycomb pore size has been reduced from 20 microns to 12 microns to improve liquid retention and leak resistance; porosity reaches 63% for greater instant vaporization volume; and coil resistance has been reduced from 1.3Ω to 1.2Ω at unchanged power, improving e-liquid atomization efficiency. In addition, the honeycomb ceramic coil, dual-penetration wicking technology, and 220-degree constant temperature control all support e-liquid atomization from multiple angles, ensuring every puff feels full and satisfying while restoring a realistic smoking experience.

A refined atomization system also requires a strong power module behind it. Boulder’s new Amber is equipped with a 420mAh battery cell, further improved from the older 360mAh version for greater capacity and durability. At the same time, by integrating the magnetic connection and electrode into a single component, the new Amber increases the pod electrode area (with a diameter of 5.5mm). Compared with the previous generation, conductivity has improved significantly, while also helping prevent poor contact issues.

The new Amber also adds a vibration alert function. After 8 puffs (roughly equivalent to one traditional cigarette), the device vibrates to remind the user, helping prevent overuse. In addition, when the pod is installed correctly, the mountain-shaped indicator light at the bottom flashes and vibrates as a prompt, helping avoid product damage caused by incorrect installation and improving the overall user experience.

In the fiercely competitive vaping arena, patented technology is the foundation of a company’s survival and growth. As the national standard comes into force, a number of companies lacking technical strength will be eliminated, while vaping companies with strong technical capabilities, like Boulder, will take part in the final competition.
