How is the RELX 2nd generation Alpha?

Many long-time RELX users and store owners probably have a lot to say about the RELX 2nd generation. The blogger has also used the Alpha for quite a long time. According to RELX officially, the Alpha was designed specifically for veteran smokers, with a more delicate and refined taste.

Personally, I don’t think the Alpha is a very mature product.

First, the Alpha is relatively expensive. The device sells for 308 RMB per unit, while the pods are available in 3-pack sets for 99 RMB and 2-pack sets for 99 RMB.

Second, the draw doesn’t feel particularly good. Possibly because the draw resistance is too low, a normal puff can make the vapor production feel somewhat weak. You need to inhale more deeply into the lungs to get a more noticeable effect.

Third, leaking is a serious issue. The 3-pack pods for the Alpha use a cotton-core atomizer, and they often make obvious crackling and spitback sounds when used. The leak prevention is also not very good, and leakage happens quite often.

Fourth, there is a lack of flavors. Most Alpha 2nd generation flavors are tobacco, tea, and mint varieties, with relatively few fruit flavors. According to the official explanation, this was intended specifically for veteran smokers.

Overall, I think the Alpha does not offer great value for money, and I wouldn’t particularly recommend it. That may also be one reason why its sales have not taken off.
