Compact Contender – HITA Ink Black Tower 2 Vape Kit Hands-on Review

Around March and April this year, ASVAPE launched the HITA flashlight kit, whose retro battery-tube styling and dual finished-coil/DIY concept left a strong impression. Just half a year later, they introduced a new product in the HITA series: the Ink kit,

The ASVAPE brand launched the HITA flashlight kit around March or April this year, leaving a deep impression with its retro battery stick design and the multiple play options of finished coils/DIY kits.

However, just six months later, they have introduced a new product in the HITA series, the ink kit, commonly referred to as the Black Tower 2. Today, let's take a closer look.

The kit includes a manual (in Chinese), finished coils, a drip tip, and a TYPE-C charging cable, maintaining the same basic components as the flashlight kit.

We all know that ASVAPE truly became a hit with the Baigui box, but it was the Strider box launched in 2016 that made the brand memorable in China. Today’s ink kit can be seen as a continuation of the Strider box style.

However, the size has been significantly reduced, with dimensions of 91*34*28mm and a built-in 1500mAh battery, weighing only 100g, making it incredibly compact and comfortable to hold.

In terms of color options, there are black and silver frames, each available in four different rubber paint designs featuring a panda holding the ink kit while hammering ancient Chinese monsters, which is very unique. Additionally, there is a pure black option available.

The Black Tower 2 ink's atomizer is identical in style to the flashlight kit, using a strong magnetic connection to attach the atomizer, with noticeably stronger magnetic force than the flashlight kit. When installing, be mindful that one side has a limit slot.

Once installed, there are air intake holes on both sides of the device, allowing for airflow adjustment by rotating the atomizer, with the maximum setting allowing for direct lung hits and the minimum providing a tighter mouth-to-lung experience, making it very adaptable.

The Black Tower 2 ink has a power adjustment range of 5-40W, with clear and understandable display items. The operation is straightforward, with only power on/off and combination keys for puff count and locking, without any unnecessary features, making it easy to use.

The atomizer has already been explained to be consistent with the flashlight's basic design, so I won't go into too much detail here.

The first difference is that the two drip tips have different diameters compared to the flashlight; one is flat and the other is bowl-shaped, which prevents excessive condensation from being drawn in during daily use, a good improvement.

The second difference is that the Black Tower 2 ink is equipped with a brand new 0.3Ω coil, while the 1.0Ω specification remains unchanged from before.

Therefore, under normal usage, the direct connection between the drip tip and the 1.0Ω coil may still accumulate a fair amount of condensation in the middle, which can be annoying, so regular cleaning is necessary. Since the drip tips have been changed, the unchanged coil is likely for cost considerations, but it is not very pleasant.

However, the new 0.3Ω coil features a fully open design, effectively allowing condensation to flow back. During my tests, I found that using this coil resulted in no condensation at all, which is a big plus.

Once the atomizer is installed, the chip will detect the resistance and automatically set it to an appropriate power level.

However, due to the strong magnetic connection, the detected resistance tends to fluctuate slightly each time it is installed. For example, with the 0.3Ω coil, it may show a slightly higher resistance of 0.0XΩ, which does not affect performance, but sometimes it can even spike to as high as 0.6Ω, which can significantly impact flavor experience and may even lead to burning the coil. I hope the brand can find a solution to this issue soon.

In terms of flavor experience, the 1.0Ω coil, while unchanged from before, benefits from the adjustable power, resulting in a noticeable improvement in flavor compared to the flashlight kit's output method, handling both 35mg salt nicotine and 6mg regular e-liquids without issue.

The new 0.3Ω coil is definitely designed for regular 3mg and 6mg e-liquids, and I must give a big thumbs up for the flavor it brings, with its richness, vapor production, and durability placing it among the top tier of finished coils on the market, and it does not draw in any condensation at all. I highly recommend using this coil as the primary option for the ink device.

In terms of expandability, there is still a DIY kit available for purchase, with the only difference being that this one includes a wire burning kit, or an atomizer adapter. Due to structural changes and stronger magnets, it can not only be used for regular wire burning but can also accommodate other tanks or small drippers, making it visually appealing when paired.

However, the fluctuating resistance detection causes instability when using various atomizers and DIY kits. Experienced users can generally gauge the resistance range with their own coils, but this may not be very friendly for beginners, so caution is advised.

Overall, the newly launched HITA ink Black Tower 2 kit still boasts a high aesthetic value, compact size, complete functionality, adjustable power, and multiple expansion options. Calling it an all-around device is not an exaggeration, and the addition of the 0.3Ω coil has brought a lot of surprises. Even though it still has this minor bug, I still highly recommend purchasing it.

The current retail price in physical stores is 398 yuan, which is quite affordable and offers great value for money!
